New Chaos Space Marines Vigilus Black Legion Rules SPOTTED

chaos black legion

New Chaos rules were just spotted as GW announced more support for Legions that are going to be found in Vigilus Ablaze.  Check out the Black Legion now!

Warhammer Community gave us more insight into what the Black Legion will be getting inside the Vigilus Ablaze book. From new stratagems, relics, warlord traits, and models, the Black Legion are ready for whatever the Imperium has to throw at them.

Black Legion Multipart Chaos Marine Kit, Stratagems & Relic Spotted

tip of the spear

Looking at the stratagem WHC gave us, this is specific to Black Legion only. We don’t know how much it costs, but we know that you’ll only be able to use it on the unit that is closest to the enemy’s models. Use this to secure some first blood!

You’ll be able to give multiple characters in your army a warlord trait! Keep in mind that the characters have to be a part of a specialist detachment and can’t be your Warlord. However, for only 1CP at a time, this is an incredible strat depending on what the traits end up being in the book.

Looking at the Black Legion’s relic, Angelsbane, this thing will be able to SLAP Imperial units into submission. It’s a ‘roided-up Bolter that had a base damage of 2 and already wounding Marines on a 3+. However, it has a damage characteristic of 3 if it shoots at anything with the Imperium keyword. You can use this thing to chip off a few wounds from a Knight or even outright shred a squad of Terminators!

Abaddon Gets a Profile Update

With his astonishing new model on its way very soon, what more excuse do you need to include the big bad ‘un himself? Of course, to do justice to the imposing size of the new Abaddon model, Vigilus Ablaze has an updated profile worthy of the mighty Warmaster.

So it’s official. Abaddon is the closest thing to a Primarch without being a Primarch at this day in age. We likey the 8 wounds.

Terminators Becoming a Threat Again?

bringers of despair

Black Legion Terminators are going to have a stratagem specifically cut out for them to put them in a specialist detachment. The stratagem only gives them the Bringers of Despair keyword. So what will they be able to do? It unlocks the Brutal subjugation stratagem!

brutal subjugation

Black Legion Terminators will prey upon the weak with their heavy-hitting morale debuff. Each model that they kill in the fight phase counts as two for morale! We may have finally found a real competitive use for Terminators, folks!  Imperium players may have to think about hoarding those 2cps to auto rally a squad now.

New Warlord Trait Combos With Bringers of Despair

chosen of the warmaster

If you’ll be rolling in deep with squads of Terminators, make the HQ of your detachments the Chosen of the Warmaster! If he’s a Chaos Lord, you’ll be able to reroll all hits for any Bringers of Despair within 6″. He basically becomes a Chapter Master for free.   If this can convey to the Lord Discordant, that would be most excellent…

Haarken Worldclaimer Is Still The Raptor King

Haarken Worldclaimer

lord of the raptors

With all of the Terminator Previews, Raptors are still going to be a major threat on the table. Haarken lets ANY Raptor unit within 6″ reroll all failed hit rolls within 6″.

So whether you like the slow endurance of Terminators or the fast hard-hitting aspect of Raptors, there’s an option for every Chaos Marine player inside the Vigilus Ablaze book. What are your thoughts on the new Black Legion support? Will you be doubling down on Terminators or Raptors? What kind of rules do you think the other Legions will be getting?
