These Combat Patrol boxes are a great choice for new players who are interested in exploring a particular faction. These sets are part of the Combat Patrol series, which were introduced by GW in 2019 after replacing the Start Collecting Boxes from 2016. Plus, they offer a quick and easy way to assemble a small army and jump straight into playing games.

Dubbed Morgrim’s Butchas, this gang of irate Beast Snagga Orks is clearly bummed out by the lack of massive monsters and vehicles in Combat Patrol. So, naturally, they’re venting their rage on everyone in sight. Leading the pack is a massive Beastboss, backed up by 20 Beast Snagga Boyz and four Squighog Boyz. This means they’ve got loads of smash-and-crash vibes, making their Combat Patrol a force to be reckoned with.

So, you’re eyeing that Combat Patrol box, huh? Good choice! These boxes are basically the VIP pass to starting a killer Warhammer 40k army. You get a solid mix of units – from the tough-as-nails troops to those snazzy specialist units.
It’s like assembling an all-star team right out of the gate, plus you can even play this box as is in smaller games of Warhammer 40k, aptly called “Combat Patrol.”

Is it Worth It?
Do you want a lot of Beast Snagga Boyz? If so, this is a great box for you. If you want the regular Orks, you have to pass on this one. If you really want to play this style of army, it’s pretty good value, as it gets you the Squighog Boyz for free!
The newer boxes in 10th Edition haven’t had as much value, but getting so many Boyz is always fun. Plus, this is totally different from the Orks’ last combat patrol box, so you still have options if you want to get more ‘regular Orks.’
How Many Points is it?
So, you’re wondering how many points the Orks Combat Patrol box racks up, eh? Well, in Warhammer 40k 10th edition, this box hits with about 430 points. But, as you know, the tides of the Grimdark universe are ever-shifting, and with the latest points updates, that number could quickly fluctuate.
One minute, you’re ready to start your WAAAAGH!, and the next, you’re recalculating your list because the points gods have decided to have some fun.

Beast Snagga Boyz
A lot of Orks are all about one obsession, and for the Beast Snaggas, it’s all about the thrill of the hunt. Their rugged and battle-worn look tells tales of a life spent wrangling nasty beasts and taking on the biggest enemies they can find, only to drag them down and chop them to bits with their savage choppas.
Beast Snagga Boyz hit the battlefield on foot, forming massive, unruly mobs that overwhelm enemy lines with a wave of raw, unrefined brutality.
Squighog Boyz
Smasha Squigs are like bipedal wrecking balls, charging ahead of the Ork lines and constantly headbutting everything in sight, leaving them in a perpetual state of concussion. Only the grumpiest and most aggressive Orks can steer these beasts toward enemy lines, but it’s all worth it. When a unit of Squighog Boyz comes crashing in, they flatten metal, flesh, and bone alike, making one heck of an impact.
Beastboss
The Beastboss is the big cheese of a Beast Snaggas mob, always leading from the front and crushing the juiciest prey with his serrated Beastclaw. As the top dog in the warband, he’s the one who deciphers the Wurrboyz’s visions and steers the mob toward their next hunt.
New Orks Combat Patrol Rules
As you’d expect from a Combat Patrol built for close combat mayhem, the Morgrim’s Butchas come loaded with rules to help you blitz across the battlefield. The Beast Snaggas may be all about close quarters, but they’re still Orks at heart, rocking the same WAAAGH! army rule as before.
What sets them apart this time are new Enhancements, secondary objectives, and Stratagems that sharpen their melee game even more. You can get all the new Orks Combat Patrol rules right here.
Half-Chewed Rule
This boss’ collection of bionik upgrades tells the story of a career spent taking down the nastiest creatures around—and always coming out on top. His followers, desperate to prove they’re tough enough for the biggest hunts, shrug off serious wounds like they’re nothing.
The models in his unit have the Feel No Pain 5+ ability, meaning they’re not so easy to put down. Plus, whenever a ranged attack comes their way, they get to add 1 to their armour saves. Tough as nails and ready for anything!
Stratagem
Orks—especially the Beast Snaggas—are built tough, living rugged lives that push their resilience to the max. They’re always trying to outdo each other by shrugging off enemy attacks, just so they can dish out some payback. For the rest of the phase, whenever your unit is hit by an attack with a higher Strength than their Toughness, the enemy has to subtract one from their Wound rolls. Just another day of being tough as nails!
What to Buy Next?
Considering this gives you all kinds of Beast Snagga stuff, we would keep going that way. Plus, in the new codex, it looks like there is a detachment just for them. So, we would get a bunch of transports for your boys, some Hunta Rigs, Beastboss on Squigosaur, and then more Squighog Boyz.
Obviously, you can go more normally with the rest of the army, but since you already have such a base of Beast Snaggas, we would keep going that way. You could even pair it with the new Stompa Boyz Battleforce (if you can find one still), as there would be no duplicate units to really jump-start your collection all at once.

While it may not have the highest value, The Orks Combat Patrol still offers a great way for new players to start building their armies and explore the faction.
