3rd Place: Kevin Zollinger – Black Templars
2nd Place: Matthias Bellmann – Sisters of Battle
1st Place: Tim Schnieder – Leagues of Votann
An Iron-master led Tim’s army for a hit-roll buff and repairs each round, plus a Champion for Charge re-rolls and some mortal wound output. Two units of Warriors bring in some standard bodies for some ranged shots and to help hold objectives, while two units of Berserks go all-in melee and plan to make charges and wipe out enemy squads. A unit of Yaegirs acts as another cheap ranged unit with a decent special weapon.
Two units of Pioneers are some great mobility picks that can zip around the field and pick off soft targets, while two Land Fortresses can protect a unit and move them up the board while pumping out a few ranged shots of its own. The list closes on three Sagitaurs, which are very efficient transports with slightly less firepower than the Land Fortresses.
The army’s “Grudge Token” system provides a significant boost to its attacks. Each eliminated unit grants a Grudge Token, allowing for better hit and wound rolls. This efficiency applies across the army, making it highly effective in both close combat and ranged attacks. The Pioneers, Sagitaurs, and Berserks contribute to the army’s versatility and successful performance at Hanseatic.
And there you have it! The Hanseatic Alliance Open showcased some top-tier Warhammer 40k action, and these army lists certainly did not disappoint. From Votann, Sisters, and Black Templars, it’s clear that these players brought their A-game. Whether you’re a veteran player or just getting started playing Warhammer 40k, there’s a lot to learn from these top-tier tactics and compositions.
