They are both tiny, but mighty! Check out just how big er small the new Space Marine Sabre Tank is, and why it’s adorable just like Baby Yoda.
Forge World released the light-armored Legion Sabre Tank recently and has also just previewed a new variant of the model called the Arquitor. But it’s a lot smaller than you might think. Take a look at all the details on this brand new tank chassis for Horus Heresy, because like the great Jedi Master once said, size matters not?
Legion Sabre Tank: More Adorable Than Baby Yoda
Okay fine, it can’t use the force, and it’s not green. It is tiny and old, and from a grimdark point of view, that can be enough to make the cut.
The Sabre Tank is something VERY similar to the Sicaran chassis. It’s just scaled down a bit with minor variations to the top of the hull for weapon mounting.
A Rhino or Custodes Pallas might be about the same scale as the Sabre if you had to compare it to something else. As you can see above it is about as long as a Rhino, but slightly shorter.
Legion Sabre Tank Building Instructions
As far as the Sabre itself goes, there’s a handful of different wargear options to pick from depending on what battlefield role you’re filling with it. But it doesn’t dictate the way you build the main hull of the tank.
The hull itself is actually just five pieces with other minor bits that add a little depth to the mini like the hatch, turret mount, weapon brace, etc.
Then comes wargear. If you want to keep your models future-proof, don’t glue the bits shown above. Just have the gun magnetized and you could also get away with just setting the power supply nodes on the hull as-is.
Overall, it’s not a complicated piece to throw together. Just remember to keep your options open by magnetizing your turrets! Plus, with the size of the model being so small, you can probably get away with running multiples of these in your lists as harasser units. They aren’t the tankiest, but have an absurd amount of firepower strapped onto the tracks for the points.
Legion Arquitor Bombard
The Arquitor Bombard is a new tank coming to the Horus Heresy as well. It looks to be the brother of the Sabre that’s just been reversed. Being on the smaller side and armed with supplementary heavy bolters, the main payload on this vehicle is one massive grav-flux bombard strapped to the back. But it looks like we’ll have more weapon options to choose from as well by the time it releases from Forge World.
The Bombard can be equipped with a variety of weapons, the most esoteric of which is the graviton-charge cannon, shown here. Like all graviton weapons, it pulverises its targets, cracking bones and rupturing organs.
There’s a lot of tracked excitement coming to the Legions very shortly! With these units being so light and having all that firepower, will this just be something like a slower land-speeder? Will the artillery variant, the Arquitor be more popular than the Sabre itself?
