Is it Worth It?

Adeptus Custodes Auric Champions Battleforce

This is a decent mix of units, gets you the new miniature, and has good value! You basically get the Wardens and the new Shield Captain for free. This is also a really good starter force for new players—as it can get you over half a starting army in one buy! It’s also decent for veteran players, as it doesn’t have a ton of Sisters of Silence and Custodian Guard inside.

new Shield-Captain

Well, the coolest thing in this set is the new Shield Captain model. It’s a new Custodes addition, and getting it before it’s out separately is a big win in theory. It’s always awesome to have a model before anyone else, right? Plus, this captain is more than just a figurehead; it’s a centerpiece that adds some variety to your army and painting list.

Now, let’s talk about the rest of the box: five Custodian Wardens, six Allarus Terminators, and six Vertus Praetors. For someone new to Custodes, this set is a jackpot—both literally and figuratively. You get a mix of heavy hitters and fast movers, perfect for trying out different tactics and finding your groove.

How Many Points Is This?

So, you’re wondering how many points the Adeptus Custodes Battleforce racks up, eh? Well, in Warhammer 40k 10th edition, this box hits with about 1,200 points. But, as you know, the tides of the Grimdark universe are ever-shifting, and with the latest points updates, that number could quickly fluctuate.

One minute, you’re ready to purge heretics, and the next, you’re recalculating your list because the points gods have decided to have some fun.

Shield Captain with Pyrithite Spear

Shield Captain

This new elite box set offers players the opportunity to explore the Adeptus Custodes faction, showcasing their unparalleled martial prowess and divine technology. The new Shield Captain with pyrithite spear is at the heart of this battleforce, a paragon of virtue and strategy who leads his forces with unmatched grace.

Wardens & Allarus Terminators

Custodes Custodian Wardens

Surrounding him are the Custodian Wardens, five warriors clad in ornate armor, each a master of melee combat and a guardian of the Emperor’s will. Also featured are six Allarus Terminators, heavy hitters in the Custodes lineup, armored in the thickest plate, and ready to break the enemy lines with their overwhelming force.

Dawneagle Jetbikes

Vertus Praetors Post

Soaring above the battlefield, six Vertus Praetors on Dawneagle Jetbikes exemplify the mobility and striking power of the Custodes, delivering swift justice from the skies. This box set can enhance or kickstart your Adeptus Custodes army with diverse unit types and offers customization options to embody the golden host’s majestic warfare.

What to Buy Next?

Adeptus Custodes Combat Patrol

Well, this gives you a decent starting force, but we would add Custodian Guard and some Sisters of Silence for cheap objective support (well, cheap for Custodes). This would pair quite well with the old Combat Patrol, and you would have a pretty big army with those two boxes. You’d have more bikes than you might want, but bikes are fun.

If that thing is all snatched up, the new combat patrol for 2024 isn’t a bad choice, but it does come with two duplicate units. On the bright side, you’ll probably need a bunch of squads of Terminators and Wardens, so it might just be the Emperor’s wish, so to speak.

Combat Patrol Adeptus Custodes

To finish off the army, you need some more characters, probably Trajann, and maybe some dreads or tanks from Forge World or more Wardens, which are in the new Battleforce box.
