With the revival of The Old World, fans can expect updates to the Knights Panther. A new leaked mini, Harald Gemunsen, Grand Master of the Knights Panther, was spotted in stunning detail that exemplifies GW’s modern sculpting quality. This supposedly leaked image likely comes from the upcoming Empire of Man almanac and may spawn more model rumors for upcoming Old World releases.

Key highlights include the intricate armor design, dynamic pose of both horse and rider, and vibrant heraldry featuring panther motifs and regal colors like blue and gold. The panther pelt draped over the figure adds texture and narrative depth, symbolizing the knightly order’s traditions. Even better, this model is clearly inspired by an iconic piece of artwork from Warhammer Fantasy by John Blanche!

Some of you may remember this image from Warhammer Fantasy’s first edition titled Panther Knight, 1986 (Baron Heinrich Von Torlichhelm Master of the Order of the Knights Panther) by Blanche, which seems to be the inspiration for this miniature, as we have seen Games Workshop do over the years with other key figures across systems.

Additionally, updated lore in the almanac will likely expand on their founding, traditions, and key battles, giving players even more reasons to include them in their armies.

Who Are the Knights Panther?

The Knights Panther are one of the most famous knightly orders in The Empire. Founded during the Crusades against Araby, they are known for their unmatched zeal and striking panther pelts, which symbolize their order. They’re deeply tied to The Empire’s lore, representing the drive to protect civilization against the dark forces threatening its borders.

Visually, the Knights Panther are a feast for the eyes. Their armor is ornate, featuring panther motifs and vibrant colors, often blue and gold. The panther pelt cloaks worn by their knights are a nod to their history and provide a distinctive silhouette on the battlefield.

In past miniature lines, the Knights Panther have stood out as some of the most sought-after models, with their intricate designs capturing the imagination of collectors and painters alike.

Their Role in The Old World

Warhammer Empire of Man 5

In The Old World setting, knightly orders like the Knights Panther are the epitome of chivalric ideals. They’re often called upon to defend The Empire from invaders, whether it’s hordes of Chaos marauders or rampaging orcs. Their martial prowess is matched only by their dedication to Sigmar, the patron god of The Empire. Their storied history and ties to The Empire’s larger narrative make them a favorite for lore enthusiasts and players.

Why the Knights Panther Matter

Warhammer Empire of Man

For new players, the Knights Panther are an ideal entry point into The Empire. Their combination of rich lore, iconic design, and central role in The Empire’s defense makes them both a visual and narrative standout. Either way, the Knights Panther offer a compelling gateway into this beloved setting.
