Time has crept up on the first two seasons of Warhammer Underworlds. Shadespire is being discontinued and GW has its eyes firmly on Nightvault next!
Warhammer Underworlds is a tiled skirmish game that uses a small Warband and a few decks of cards to play. Since the game’s release, there have been seasons that bring new cards, maps, and warbands to the table. However, with Beastgrave (the newest season) just around the corner, it looks like all the older contents of the game are falling away.
GW Discontinues Warhammer Underworlds Shadespire
With two Starter sets and a whole host of Warbands out there, Games Workshop emailed retail stores essentially saying that older lines of the game were heading out the door.
In preparation for the Beastgrave launch, we are making the following changes to our Warhammer Underworlds range:
The Nightvault Starter Set has moved to Direct/ Webstore Exclusive.
The 6 Shadespire Warbands (Sepulchral Guard, Chosen Axes, Ironskull’s Boyz, Magore’s Fiends, Farstriders, Spiteclaw’s Swarm) are no longer available to order.
So the Nightvault Starter is going to be a webstore exclusive while the first Shadespire Warbands are just going to be unavailable for purchase entirely. As for the players that already have their Warbands and decks made with these products, GW also had this to say:
We will soon be publishing a Warhammer Community article about the future for Warhammer Underworlds. For now, be assured that all current warbands will be playable in Beastgrave!
While you might not be able to get your hands on some of the older contents soon, the silver lining is that if you’ve already got your favorite Warband, they’re still totally playable in Beastgrave (with details to follow).
With this announcement coming forward, do you think the same trend can be said for things like old Space Marines vs. Primaris? What is your favorite Warband to play?
