Games Workshop updated their site, showing all the new unit types for 10th Edition Warhammer 40k factions, including Battleline.
With 10th Edition right around the corner, it only makes sense GW would change up the site to match the new unit types, but it looks like they launched it a tad early! While we’ve already seen a lot of datasheets and how to build lists, it’s nice to see the full array of what units will be Battleline, artillery, etc., for the new edition.

Now, let’s jump into the new update!
New GW Site Update Reveals Unit Types For 10th Edition
There are some interesting ones on there, but probably the most important are Battleline and Dedicated Transports, as you can take six of each of them if you want. It is a little odd they still have so many options for Gravis etc, as they seem to be trying to make them less different when it comes to rules and transport.
Also, it’s good to know what specialty units are out there if you’re looking for a specific unit!
Nothing is too crazy in the battleline section, but if you’re wondering what to get painted up, this is probably the place to go look! There are quite a few pages of Battleline, so there are plenty of choices for your core troops.
Again, nothing too insane in the dedicated transport section, but it will give you some good info ahead of the new edition.
You can see on the bottom of the new datasheets the unit type keyword (like Battleline.) So it’s super helpful now that you can search by all the different keywords on the GW site!
However, with the similarity to AoS, there is a chance GW will build special detachments in the future as the battalions work in AoS.
Leaving the Door Open?
While, as of right now, it seems like 40k will still just be, take what you want, with more battleline troops (and dedicated transports) allowed, there is a chance they go the route of AoS, where Battleline units (notice they also show artillery units and monster units in the keyword list) need to take up a certain amount of your forces.
They might be doing this to leave the door open in the future for 40k to have special detachments. In 9th, they introduced Armies of Renown, and with this new style of keywords, they might do something similar, but maybe more setup like the AoS Battalions.
We’ll have to wait and see on that, but it would be an in-built way for GW to spice up the game.
