Forge World just released a teaser for their the new Legio Custodes Aquilon Terminators that so many hobbyists were waiting for!
New Custodes are coming, and Games Workshop just gave us more of a look into their new Aquilon Terminators for Custodes.
Their armor blends elements of the Custodes armor with Cataphractii-Pattern Terminator armor. The Aquilon has a hand crafted look and gives a feeling of movement and flexibility. As to the size of their bases, we are assuming they could possibly be on 50mm ones like we have seen with similar units, such as Centurions (remember the normal Custodes are on 40mm bases themselves).
They come equipped in this case with infernus firepikes and solarite power talons. Again, these weapons are similar to those wielded by the Terminators of the Space Marines Legions but have an extra degree of deadly craftsmanship – Appropriately for the Emperor’s bodyguard, these weapons also have a savage and medieval feel despite their elegance.
Rules-wise in the Horus Heresy the Aquilon are an elite choice:
Aquilon Terminators
Equipped with Lastrum storm bolters (storm bolters with Heliothermatic rounds) and Solarite Gauntlet talons. They may swap their guns for Firepikes (tr6 ap6 torrent)
This pattern of Terminator Armour is used by the Adeptus Custodes. Its origins lie with the Cataphractii suits of the Space Marine Legions, but with far greater power capacity and customized neuro-fibre uplinks, it is said, redesigned by the mind of the Emperor himself. Aquilon Pattern Terminator Armour was said to have adjusted for the enhanced physique of the Custodes, who were capable of bearing more weight and strain than even Space Marines. This allowed it to be fitted with additional power systems and capacitors, increasing its durability and maneuverability.
Within the ranks of the Custodes, Aquilon Pattern Terminator Armour was deployed by the Tharanatoi Caste.
