ba v nurgle 2

Nurgle strikes again, seeking to gain an increased advantage over the forces of the Imperium with their latest strike. Can the Blood Angels hold them back?

Austin and Greg go head to head in a random mission, bringing the might of Nurgle against the wrath of the Blood Angels. The random mission role ends up being The Scouring, containing 6 objective markers on the battlefield, one of the standard deployment maps, and several different ways to obtain victory points. Take and Hold grants VP to the player who has more models within 3″ of the marker, with the randomly selected Superior marker being worth 4 points, the Inferior marker being 1 point, and all other markers being 2 points. Slay the Warlord, First Blood, and Linebreaker are all worth 1 victory point each. More information on this mission can be found in the Warhammer 40,000 rules book on page 220.

Greg brings two detachments of Blood Angels: Vanguard and Battalion. Dante is HQ for the Vanguard Detachment with a unit of Sanguinary Guard, Death Company, and a Death Company Dreadnought. The Battalion Detachment contains Brother Corbulo and Chief Librarian Mephiston as HQ, 1 Storm Raven, 3 Razorbacks with assault cannons, and 3 attack squads.

Austin is playing with two detachments for his Nurgle Daemons: Battalion and Outrider. The Battalion Detachment has Epidimus and a Herald of Nurgle as HQ, Plague Bearers, and 2 heavy support Plague Hulks of Nurgle. The Outrider Detachment contains Plague Flies, Nurgle Prince with Wings, and Liberated Unclean One for a fast attach heavy battalion. Austin rolled higher on the roll off and chose to go second.

In Turn 1, Greg started off moving forward and hitting at the flies with the razorbacks and storm raven, taking down one full unit and gaining first blood. Austin retaliates by casting smite, getting 6 mortal wounds on one razorback. During shooting, the second razorback takes more wounds prior to the flies charging in during the assault phase. One tank was destroyed during the final assault.

With each army taking down one unit, Austin is on the lookout for deep strikes and where Greg will be disembarking his next units. Greg will be looking to clear some lanes for travel and taking out a few of Nurgle’s top commanders. Who will survive long enough to control the objectives in the end? Press play on the video below to see the gritty details of this Nurgle vs. Blood Angels battle report and find out who will be the champion!
