Star Wars: Armada has had two expansion packs come out and our very own Rob Baer has them both to unbox and review. This review will focus on the Chimaera, the devastating flagship of Grand Admiral Thrawn.
Thrawn is a tactical genius that nearly brought the Rebellion to its knees. Now, he and the Chimaera have made their debut in Star Wars: Armada. Let’s dive right into the unboxing and review to take a closer look at what you will find inside.

The Chimaera Expansion pack retails for $49.95 has more in it than the Profundity Expansion Pack. The Chimaera itself has a nicely detailed paint scheme that includes the iconic Chimaera pattern. The expansion also includes 2 Mandalorian Gauntlet fighters as well. Stand wise, there is no difference in arcs or shields. The Chimaera comes with two profiles: Kuat Refit and Cymoon 1 Refit. The Chimaera has more red and blue dice options than the standard Star Destroyer.
The 2 Mandalorian Gauntlet fighters that come included may not be to scale but are still cool to see nonetheless. Both Gar Saxon and the generic Mandalorian Gauntlet fighter upgrade have the Rogue and Assault keywords. The Rogue ability gives them the capability to both move and attack in the Squadron phase. the Assault ability allows them to sacrifice a hit when attacking a ship in order to give the said ship a Raid token. This gives them the capability of striking quickly and limiting the command options your opponent has.
