Plastic Sisters of Battle or Adepta Sororitas seem to be the talk of the town since GW announced them at Adepticon 2018. Now we’re going in-depth on what to expect timeline wise for their 2019 release.
We know they are coming in 2019, but that is about it honestly from the Games Workshop side of things. Today we’re going to break down what GW said at their Adepticon Preview and then give you our expert opinion on what 2019 may look like for the Sisters of Battle timeline wise:
First off let’s go back and see exactly what Games Workshop had to say about the new release.
Yup, plastic Sisters of Battle are on their way. For reals.
We know many of you have been waiting patiently (and impatiently…) for a long time for the Adepta Sororitas, and that for many of you this is more than ‘just’ a new army. So, we’re going to do something we’ve never done before – right up until the release, we’ll be bringing you updates on the Sisters of Battle, sharing images and snippets of info and a whole ton of behind the scenes goodness.
Emperor willing, the Battle Sisters of the Adepta Sororitas will be ready to take the fight to the renegade, the heretic and the unbeliever in 2019.
During the preview, one fan (who just happened to be dressed in SoB cosplay) asked if 2019 meant January 2019, and GW simply replied: “no, we need something for next year’s Adepticon.”
They also went on to say trial rules will be in this winter’s Chapter Approved 2018 book as well. So from all of these clues it seems like we can deduce the following:
- GW is going to make a BIG show of the design, background, and development of this line perhaps in a similar fashion to how they did all the art reveals for Necromunda.
- From the timetable of rules in Chapter Approved in Dec ’18 then to being put into printed codex form and Sisters giving them “something for next year’s Adepticon” ( I would assume to be previewed like Death Guard were last year). That could put their release around the late summer or early fall of 2019, again similar to the Death Guard preview of 2017.
Which may also be supported by the fact that Games Workshop has also previously said all the codex books would be “done by the end of the year (2018)”. However, that may not mean “released” by 2018. Remember we have heard from a number of sources (both rumored and otherwise) that primarchs and campaign books will be the new pivot releases wise for GW once we get past the codex bubble.
So from all appearances, Sisters will be on everyone’s radar for at least the next year leading to adepticon 2019, and then perhaps even longer depending on when the models finally hit the shelves in 2019.
