Get in here and check out all the new price increases on Citadel Paints, and Start Collecting box sets for Warhammer 40k and Age of Sigmar.

If you missed it, Games Workshop recently made an announcement saying that their Citadel paint pots and all Start Collecting Sets would be going up in price:

Update: this article was edited to reflect the Maggotkin being the second Start Collecting set that may be a new release in the future.

Jan 4th, 2019:

Hiya folks,

In the spirit of openness, we’ve got a quick bit of news for you today: as of the 4th of February this year, the price of paints and some of the Start Collecting! sets will change.

Paint pots will have a small increase of 20 pence per pot (or local currency equivalent). The paint sets, though, will have no change, making them an even better way to round out your painting arsenal.

Kudos to GW for being upfront this time about thier pricing with everybody. Let’s take a look at everything that is changing starting with the paint range.

Citadel Paints Increase in Price

Citadel Airbrush Paint

Multiple retailers have confirmed the following price increases here in the states.

Citadel Paints are looking to actually go up by 30 Cents ($4.55). It’s important to note that there are a few paints like certain pigmented layers (Retributor Armor for example) are going up by 45 Cents. All in all, there aren’t any paints out there that are spiking in price. Everything is pretty even across the board.

Start Collectings Price Change

The Prices of Start Collectings are going up a few dollars. However, the value that comes in the box still makes it worth it in our opinion. Take a look at this list of the Start Collectings and their new prices. It’s also important to note that Idoneth Deepkin and Maggotkin don’t have a Start Collecting on GW’s online store currently. However, they are listed for a price. There could be two new Start Collectings on the way to the shelves in the future!

Ultimately, any time a price goes up, people become skeptical. However, at the end of the day, the price change is roughly what you pay tax wise here in the US, about less than 10%. Remember too since their debut back in January of 2016 (3 years ago) they have stayed the same $85 MSRP until now.

Overall you’re still getting a good deal for all of the value Start Collectings have to offer. As for paints, if you may be wanting to venture out to other brands. Army Painter dropper bottles are a fantastic start at only $2.99 each!
