Army Painter has several different paint sets available, including prepackaged color sets for achieving certain looks on different models. Each box comes with several leaflets, including a catalog and painting guide. The painting guide is extremely useful because it gives many different recipes to start out using their paints. This flyer should be available in stores that carry the larger Army Painter paint racks. You can find many more recipes and combos online on the website as well. The guide goes over how to use the quickshades such as Soft Tone, Strong Tone, and Dark Tone and their different effects.

Each bottle of Army Painter paint has a small plug of matte medium, used to keep the paint itself liquid while at distribution. Prior to using any paint for the first time from Army Painter, the liquid matte medium needs to be drained out. That will give a lot more room in the bottle to shake and mix, then the paints are ready to use! The paints are fairly thin out of the bottle but can be thinned more with the Warpaints Mixing Medium, especially when airbrushing.

Army Painter is known for having a fantastic color match system that isn’t entirely sorcery. Their spray primers do match very well to the bottles of paints. When testing on a model, the colors match quite well. This helps to fix any issues that come up during painting, such as washing something that wasn’t supposed to be in that color or touch up colors.

Army Painter also has a line of acrylic washes in different colors that can be used individually or in combination with other washes. There is also a Quickshade Wash Mixing Medium to cut the washes to make the washes thinner. The washes are fairly thin as is and adds in some fantastic effects with other parts of the collection.

Overall, Army Painter’s line of paints is incredibly versatile with their wide color palette, acrylic washes, and color match primers.
