Surprise 40k Chapter Approved 2019 FAQ Coming Soon?

warhammer 40k Faq wal hor marine spaceIs there a surprise points FAQ on the way for 40k Chapter Approved 2019? Well GW did that very thing for the Age of Sigmar General’s Handbook…

Following the historical GW release pattern since 8th edition, they drop a book and two weeks later, it gets FAQ’d. This has happened more recently with Supplement: Iron Hands, Raven Guard, Imperial Fists, Salamanders, Psychic Awakening: Faith & Fury, etc.

So will we see Chapter Approved 2019 get updated? Signs are pointing to yes…

GW FAQ’d the AoS Version of Chapter Approved

The General’s Handbook that released earlier this year came in clutch with points drops/changes across almost every AoS faction. However, shortly after the physical book’s release, GW chimed back in and gave further FAQs, rewordings, and even included factions that didn’t have points changes in the book initially. (FEC, Skaven, Etc.).

Adding an * makes seeing points changes easier

One nice thing that we have to point out from the General’s Handbook is that GW put a “*” symbol next to all the names of units that were updated. It made it very easy to look at an entire list of data entries and immediately see what was updated and what stayed the same. Wouldn’t it be nice if they did that for 40k too?

A Post- Chapter Approved FAQ May Be Coming

custodes Caladius

As we said before, Chapter Approved 2019 came with all kinds of points updates and, for the most part, everything got cheaper. However, there are a few units, specifically in the Custodes section that reverted back to their points BEFORE the big FAQ nerfed the Caladius/ Telemon earlier in the year.

While there hasn’t been any mention of GW lifting the new points from Custodes and reverting them back to the way they were, it seems like the printing of Chapter Approved might have been done before the new Custodes rules hit in August.

So, in essence, it seems like the points for this book were finalized before August, and printed early fall to ensure a December product launch.

With that said, this might be grounds to see a surprise “update” from GW in the coming days to tighten up the book, as it’s basically 6 months old at this point.

Just Another Reason Why We Need a Digital Platform

With GW saying that 8th would be a living edition, there needs to be quicker turn-around on updates and fixes. And at the end of the day, nobody likes to spend $40 on a book purposefully meant to update their army, and then have GW chime in and say “oh we didn’t catch that sorry”, essentially driving the book to be out of date.

We understand that everybody is human. However, with a new book coming out almost every single month now, it would be helpful to have a living online platform for points. We could still get supplements/codexes/campaign books. But as for actual data values on units, it would be fantastic to have a database that’s always up-to-date.

Do you think Chapter Approved is going to get updated? Would you like to see GW move everything over to an always-relevant digital platform?
