More On 40k’s Next 3 Psychic Awakening Rulebooks

space marines psychic awakening warhammer 40k title wal horNow that Blood of Baal is out and the next three Psychic Awakening books have been revealed, it’s time to take a step deeper into what may be on the way.

Games Workshop already revealed the next three books of Psychic Awakening stretching into early 2020. With the three books on the horizon, all we really know are what the names of the titles will be. So here are some educated guesses of the factions/books we will be getting shortly.

Psychic Awakening: Ritual of the Damned

This is the book that we know most about. With this being the latest video, we can see the emblems of Thousand Sons, Grey Knights, and Dark Angels appear. With three Psychic Awakening books under our belt now, we’ve got a pretty good idea of how the releases will go. There should be one or two new models along with Doctrines/relics/Stratagems for Space Marines.

GW even said:

Each book will be accompanied by an epic champion to lead the charge in this terrible age. These legendary heroes will include reborn, reimagined and brand-new characters, but we can’t reveal any more details at the moment.

Stepping deeper into the Chaos side of things, this will be the first book that solely focuses on a single Chaos Legion. Sure, Faith & Fury had Chaos in it, but they sort-of blanketed the entire Legion with just a page or two of content. The Thousand Sons are in a good position to get a nice dose of love once again. Who knows, Thousand Sons might be the first to get their broody, “it’s not just a phase”-titled version of a Doctrine bonus as well.

Psychic Awakening: The Greater Good

For the 5th book in the timeline, The Greater Good sounds explicitly like the one faction that has those exact words as a rule in their datasheet. The Tau should be picking up a little rules bonus. However, the question lies in which factions will be fighting with/against the smart fish people.

The last big update on the Tau showed them to be fighting some Imperial Guard, Raven Guard, etc. in the Damocles Gulf. Books like Kauyon and Mont’ka covered all of this back in 2015! But Raven Guard have already been given a supplement (with minor stories of the Chapter fighting Tau). So that leaves the Imperial Guard up in the spotlight. It would also make some sense to put more of the shooty armies against one another in a release in terms of balancing.

It’s not been confirmed, but the Imperial Guard might be the hidden force to accompany Psychic Awakening: The Greater Good.

Psychic Awakening: Saga of the Beast

The final book is aptly named Saga of the Beast. There are two things in particular about this book…It’s got “Saga” which we know is obviously a Space Wolves word as it appears in their codex. However, there are Ork “Beasts” as well. Saga translated is just a heroic story. So “Story of the Beast” is essentially what this book is called. With that said, the Space Wolves might have found an Orkish enemy that was so great, they turned it into a Saga. and BOOM. Here’s a book.

Earlier Findings of Space Wolves

Thanks to a hobbyist named Sablednah he managed to dig deep into the Warhammer Community site and pulled out some pretty exciting finds. Using the HTML code, the map would zoom in on certain sectors of the galaxy. With all of this being done, we know for sure that Space Wolves are going to have some kind of involvement as their insignia has been revealed.

As for Orks, we actually also saw earlier rumors of a Black Templars Vs. Orks Box Set that never turned out to be…But with Black Templars already released and the odd name of the final Psychic Awakening book revealed, maybe it’s safe to say that we can swap out Black Templars with Space Wolves for a new Box Set!

With all of this on the table waiting to be confirmed by future GW previews, what would you like to see your faction get in the coming books? Do you think it will be one new model that drops per release? Or will GW do each faction a solid and give them a new mini? Will they just keep bringing back old characters in Primaris form or will there be something more?
