Check out the latest rumors on how much the new 9th Edition 40k Indomitus Starter Box Set may cost, and the release date to order it as well.
GW seems to be somewhat a creature of habit. If something works, they’ll use that same marketing model a few more times. With that said, looking toward 9th Edition’s new Starter box featuring new Primaris and Necrons, we’re all wondering when we could see it hit the shelves. Using the same way we’ve seen previous releases (specifically Dark Imperium at the beginning of 8th), we have a pretty good idea of how it could all shake out.
RUMORS: 9th Edition 40k Indomitus Box Set Release Date
Using the way GW treated Dark Imperium as the model, here is how it all went down in 2017…
- Late May, Dark Imperium (with Sprue pics) was announced/revealed.
- One week later, June 3rd, 2017, Dark Imperium announced for pre-order.
- Dark Imperium hit shelves by June 17th, 2017 (two weeks later)
So from what we saw from Dark Imperium, it was announced at the tail end of the month with sprue pics. Given slightly less than a month from that point, we saw the Box Set on the shelves in stores. Not a bad turnaround time for a release that big coupled with a brand new rules system…So where are we now for 9th Edition?
Using The Same Model For Indomitus
We already have reason to suspect this box set is $200 from our recent post, which doesn’t seem too bad from GW value-wise for 60+ models.
So for Indomitus in 9th Edition, we’re coming up on the cusp of when we should see a pre-order date any time now. Here’s why…
- June 14th, Indomitus Box Set contents were officially previewed.
- Also on June 14th, Sprue pics of Necrons revealed and sprue pics of Primaris revealed.
Using the same timeframe, it’s quite possible that we could see Indomitus pre-orders announced for June 27th, this Sunday (one week from previews) to be delivered and released on July 11th (two weeks from then).
This is a rough guess, but we’re using the same schedule as Dark Imperium from 8th Edition. It’s difficult to tell if there have been any hiccups in the shipping due to the worldwide crisis. However, with GW stores back up and running albeit at a slower rate, they may have had time to prepare and secure solid dates for Indomitus’ release.
