Get ready to field the unstoppable terminators of the Dark Angels with these new Deathwing rules for Warhammer 40k!
Warhammer Community just revealed a host of new rules including rules and stratagems for the 1st Company. If you don’t plan on playing with the Deathwing and want to see what rules we have for the more regular armies of the Dark Angels, be sure to check the latest previews!
If you are interested in Ravenwing, check out yesterday’s post some of their teased rules.
There are a lot of new rules to go over, but if you want to see all the new kits coming with the faction, check it out here. But for now, let’s jump into what is next for the Deathwing!
New Dark Angels Deathwing 40k Rules
Some pretty nice rules to let your Terminators actually capture objectives now. Especially if you take this as a detachment with your Warlord in it, you’ll get the +3 command points on top of giving your Terminators Objective Secured. You can also take just a small detachment and have all your normal troops with OBSEC and then the Terminators can go up to those harder to get objectives and lay down the beat-stick.
Very similarly to Ravenwing’s, it’s like these act as a sort of mini-army inside your list. Maybe you can combine this with the Ravewing rules to have a sort of triple threat force?
Rites of Initiation
It can be hard to get all the characters and vehicles to have the Deathwing /Inner circle keywords, but luckily you can give the keyword to some of them for a minor point increase, allowing them to come along in the 1st company detachment providing extra options.
Some might be more practical than others, but options are always nice and the extra flexibility is always welcomed.

New Stratagems
This stratagem is great. For 1CP, a squad of Deathwing models can shoot at +1 to wound the turn they deep strike in. Depending on the ranged loadouts, this can be devastating and allow you to really take out key models before they have a chance to really do any major damage.
This stratagem is also pretty good. For 2CP a Deathwing Knights unit can get +1 to wound and -1ap with their Mace of Absolution when attacking a vehicle or Monster.
Due to this being a little more specialized, it isn’t as good as the other new rules, but nonetheless, it is new options and options are always nice.
That does it for the rules so far for the Ravenwing! Some pretty nice little changes to help your Terminator legion gain some effectiveness.
Do you plan on playing Deathwing? Do you like the rules for them so far?
