GW revealed some release info about the Eldritch Omens 40k Box and we’ll also take a look at the value inside the box!
With the contents all revealed, GW has given us a semi-solid release date and even announced the box will be on MTO for the pre-order weekend. Meaning whoever wants it can get it, you might just have to wait a hot minute for it that’s all.
We’re actually pretty happy about this as we assume this will be a box that sells fast. Recently the boxes haven’t sold out basically at all, but come on, new Eldar and Chaos Space Marines models have been asked about forever, so we assume this will be different!
Warhammer Community announced all the details for the release but didn’t give an exact date quite yet. Let’s first look at the value of the box, then get into the release date!
New Eldritch Omens Box: What’s the Value Pricing Breakdown
- Autarch $35 (based on recent character releases)
- Rangers $55 (based on Drukhari and Howling Banshees releases)
- Shroud Runners $60 (based on SM Outriders)
Eldar MSRP $150
- Warpsmith $35-$40 (based on recent releases, but there is a chance it goes for $40 and not $35)
- Chaos Chosen $60
- Forgefiend $75
Chaos MSRP $170
Overall MSRP: $320
Total Estimated Value: $150 (based on previous boxes)
There is also some intrinsic value inside as 15 of the 16 miniatures are new and we probably won’t see them released on their own for a while. We’re pretty happy that GW has announced they are putting these on MTO pre-order.

We expect them to sell a decent amount of boxes considering both factions inside rarely get new miniatures.
Is the Box Worth It?
The recent Shadow Throne box went for $170 and had about $113 worth of value inside. If this goes for the same price (let’s hope it’s not more) then the value will be higher so that’s at least something. However, when you look back at something like Indomitus, the cost per mini in the box is still very high at about $10.6 per figure.
Obviously, it has a lot of elite and big models so that does offset it. If you split this with a friend, you will be getting about double your money in minis, so that really isn’t bad if you want all the new stuff!
Eldritch Omens 40k Box Release Date Info
Also found in the book is a new Theatre of War – Goliath Down, which offers a warband of plucky Aeldari underdogs all the cunning Ruses they’ll need to evade, sabotage, and destroy the enemy’s biggest threats… such as D’vok’s frenzied Forgefiend.
Eldritch Omens is due to hit pre-order in February, and our pre-order weekend promise will ensure that anyone who orders a copy that weekend is guaranteed to get one.
So first up, there will be a new book that will feature a small warband of Eldar fighting against the forces of Chaos. It feels sort of like a Corsair force from the sounds of it. Next, they will be doing the box as an MTO release. This will let basically anyone who knows about it get a box. While sometimes you will have to wait up to six months to get it, at least you will have a copy reserved.
This cuts down on the secondary market which is nice. Also, if you get in early enough, you won’t have to MTO it but we do expect the initial copies to go fast.
With the date of just February, there is a chance that means we could see it the first week (let’s hope so) or the last. Keep in mind traditionally GW releases battlebox sets around the 15th of the month when hobbyists’ pockets are a bit fuller.
Either way, we’ll know soon enough!
