In a bit of a surprise move, the new Black Series lineup from Hasbro for Lucas Films 50th anniversary is going to focus on some of the characters from the books and comics. While the line will also feature some more well-known sculpts and characters, it’s amazing to see these with it. There is so much amazing content in the extended universe, and Chris Gollaher, director of product design at Lucasfilm, said they had a hard time choosing which characters to focus on. In the end, we’re getting 4 based on fan appeal. Let’s check out the figures!
Star Wars Black Series Line set to Include Extended Universe
The four characters getting figures are: Luke Skywalker (Star Wars: Heir to the Empire), Jaxxon (1970s MarvelStar Warsand IDW Publishing’sStar Wars Adventures), Darth Maul (Star Wars: Darth Maul), and Carnor Jax (Star Wars: Crimson Empire). Each figure’s box is going to feature artwork from its origin from Legends and existing work. If you loved reading any of the comics or books, then you have to pick up some of these exclusive models.
Luke Skywalker- Heir to the Empire: $24.99
This figure is inspired by the comic book adaptation by Mike Baron of Timothy Zahn’s amazing novels. This version of Luke hasn’t appeared in a figure yet, and this one is just amazing. He even comes with a Ysalamiri, a favorite pet of Grand Admiral Thrawn. Kept around for his force-blocking abilities. The figure is very posable and the Ysalamiri can even fit around the neck of Luke. Perfect to have on the shelf or play with.
Darth Maul: $24.99
This figure comes from the comic in 2000, set before The Phantom Menace. This is an outfit only seen in the comics, and let’s be honest, Darth Maul is just a cool-looking character. Having more figures for him is never a bad thing! The figure really gives a feel into what his Sith training was like and the types of missions he was dispatched on.
Jaxxon- Star Wars Adventures: $24.99
Jaxxon was recently re-adapted from the ’70s comics in Star Wars Adventures. With his appearance, he’s been brought back and put into modern times. He’s been a fan favorite ever since his original appearance and having a great figure for him is amazing. They say they really wanted to give him a realistic feel to the comics, and they’ve done a great job!
Carnor Jax- Star Wars: Crimson Empire: $24.99
Lastly, we have Carnor. He was a rising Sith Lord in the Crimson Empire. The figure itself is very imposing and the purple on the underside of the cape really brings life to it. He is very posable and can either be put into combat poses or firing his pistol. Overall just a sweet addition to the great line.
