RUMORS: 2023 Will Be Games Workshop’s Year of Box Sets

chaos rumors new wal hor warhammer games workshopAccording to these rumors, 2023 will be the year of Games Workshop’s box sets, starting with 10th Edition Warhammer 40k this summer and then lots more!

We’ve heard a lot of rumors about how 10th Edition 40k is going to change the landscape for GW, but it will not only bring new models and rules but possibly, an entirely new approach for GW and how they handle releases, faction codexes, and more. Then, it also seems like all the other games will follow suit as well.

Obviously, these are rumors, so take them with as much salt as you need. So, if you love or hate the idea, don’t get too excited or upset as nothing is confirmed until we actually start seeing these boxes from GW.

Here are the quick links to the latest for 10th Edition Warhammer 40k and the full articles below!

Now, let’s jump into the rumors!

RUMORS: 2023 Will be GW’s Year of Box Sets

These rumors come from a solid source of Gary’s on Faeit 212.

Cawdor Vehicle Gang Tactics Cards and Cawdor Dice Set

2023 will be something like “the Year of Box Sets” for Games Workshop.

New Two Player Sets for Necromunda, Blood Bowl and something I’m not sure if it’s EPIC or Adeptus Titanicus (at the End of the Year).
There will be also another two Player Set for AoS.
Nothing too crazy here, as the box games generally get a lot of box sets. However we’ve heard a ton of rumors for Epic, but this is one of the first times we’re heard it could possibly be for AT and not Epic.
The AoS set is a little odd, but we’ve heard rumors of the new Sigmar edition for 2024, so maybe that’s what these are talking about. Now, onto 10th Edition rumors…

With the 10th Edition of 40k, GW plan something new; There will not only just a two Player Launch Box with Space Marines and Tyranids and their known “3-lvl Set Concept” following after but also new 1 Player Starters which seems to be like those Patrol Sets but with Dices, a Rulebook ect. which will follow after the release. I guess they will be something like “cheap” copies of Conquest “Taster Sets” with a minimum of Miniatures to play a legal army.
This is totally different from the current boxes, as they generally do a big box set early with the new codex and miniatures. However, according to these, there will be smaller boxes with accessories like some of the Conquest box sets.

This may be a way for them to quickly roll out new codexes and move away from the index as fast as possible. Conquest already does something very similar, and it’s pretty interesting. This might get more people to at least try out new factions, and in a sense, might more or less get you the codex for “free” if there is enough value in the boxes.

Not to forget the next season for Kill Team.
GW has talked about this, so no surprise that we are getting more boxes for that this year.

They will also test a new concept of limited miniature releases, you only can buy via your local stores and not via the GW Webshop. Those Miniatures will be similar to single Characters / HQ-choices or those Monthly shop miniatures you get with coins.
Last but not least, it looks like GW is moving limited monthly releases to local stores (which we hope means LGS and not local GW stores.)
Overall looks to be still plenty on the way for all things Warhammer
