10th Edition 40k Index Cards Will Be Harder to Buy Than We Thought

Games Workshop let stores know that they will not be able to buy single packs of index cards, they will have to purchase pre-made bundles of various factions. So some factions might be pretty challenging for people to score the physical cards. Luckily, there are some options to get perfectly sized cards out there you can print yourself that you can read about here.

Obviously, people are already talking about how the rules on some cards might change, but it also seems like they are a very useful tool for your games regardless.

So, why will it be harder to get the cards? Well, GW only allows stores to buy big bundles of specific index cards, not individual faction packs.

They will be divided into four different bundles (Space Marines, Xenos, Chaos, Imperial), with the first including all the Space Marines cards for chapters they released rules for, along with the main Space Marines cards.

This could make finding the normal Space Marine cards or the chapter card sets difficult, as stores have to buy the bundles with every chapter to get just four of the generic Space Marines.

Here’s the breakdown of the Space Marines index cards bundle that stores will be buying:

Space Marine bundle

1x Grey Knights
1x Space Wolves
1x Black Templars
1x Blood Angels
1x Dark Angels
1x Deathwatch
4x Space Marines

While four is decent, every other chapter will also need the generic ones, so if no one bought the generic ones without a specific chapter, the store would still be two behind. However, we assume more than one person will buy just the generic one.

Plus, all of these bundles are allocated one per store, so that is sure to make things a bit harder on everyone looking for them as well.

Other Faction Bundles

After that, Chaos, Xenos, and Imperial will all be put into their respective bundles. So, this means getting the cards for the most popular factions may be hard, but maybe the less popular factions will be easy to get, it’s really just hard to say.

When it comes to the new Tyranids stuff, they could be extremely hard to get, and again, stores might get stuck with a few more of the popular factions.

Here’s the breakdown of the rest of the Warhammer 40k 10th Edition Index cards sets that stores are getting in a bundle:

Imperium Index bundle
2x Astra Militarum
2x Adepta Sororitas
2x Adeptus Custodes
1x Adeptus Mechanicus
2x Imperial Agents
1x Imperial Knight

This bundle makes some sense, but the Knights have become a pretty popular army, but again, you can print them out yourself!

Xenos Index bundle
1x Aeldari
1x Necrons
1x Orks
2x Tyranids
1x Drukhari
1x Genestealer Cults
2x Tau
1x Leagues of Votann

The Xenos cards might be scarce, with only Tau and Tyranids getting two per bundle.

Chaos Index bundle
2x Chaos Space Marines
2x Chaos Daemons
2x Death Guard
2x Thousand Sons
2x World Eaters

Chaos is a little different, with two of each it seems to be the most balanced bundle of all.
