Don’t miss all the new Sisters of Battle Stratagem and Relic rules that were just spotted, plus points costs and more! Check out the latest!
Spotted on Imgur, there are some details inside the Sisters of Battle codex that we can digest! Check out these Relics, Stratagems, and points that have had the curtain pulled back!
Sisters of Battle Relics Spotted
Sisters are getting a plethora of relics in their new book. From a 3++ invuln save to a sword that hits like a thunder hammer with no negative to hit, they’ll be more combat-ready that people may take them for.
One of the most brutal relics out there might be the Casket of Penance which is like a weaker version of Mortarion’s aura. However, getting into melee with a Baneblade with this girl can bring it down to T7, making it WAY easier for things like Penitent Engines to crack open. The only downside is that the bearer is going to have to be within 1″ so melee/pistols are the only way you can damage the enemy after taking this relic.
If you want a cheap character-hunter you may want to bring a Canoness with the Beneficence rule. This turns a chain sword into a 2-damage -2 AP beat stick with three additional attacks instead of just one. This girl will be able to take on T4 characters like Lieutenants and Captains pretty comfortably (Barring a 3++ invuln).
You can also turn a character into a sniper in their own right, essentially getting a S5 -2AP bolter that can target Characters. And if they’re a Psyker, the damage is a flat 3. It’s just a better version of Greyfax’s bolter.
Sororitas Stratagems Will Be Creating new In-Game Shenanigans
The Sisters of Battle are getting what looks to be three full pages of brand new stratagems! 1CP for Suffer not the Witch is always solid if you’re planning on going against a Brothers list (Magnus and Mortarion). With so many wounds to chew through and decent saves on both models, rerolling wound rolls is going to help squeeze out the last bit of damage to keep them from standing with one or two wounds left.
Martyr’s Immolation lets you automatically explode an Immolator unit from your army. We may be seeing lists take at least one of these as a wrecking ball unit to break the enemy’s line and cause disruption at the very least.
Open the Reliquaries is another strat that looks to be ported over from the Space Marine codex. With so many relics (covered above) this Strat will probably be getting popped harder than the pills that a Slaaneshi Noise Marine is addicted to.
Storm of Retribution is a catch-all toolbox Stratagem for Retributor squads. For 2Cp, you can pick a result, which, the most useful might be a bonus 12″ on all multi-meltas in the squad. Being able to pop tanks from 36″ away is an incredible value.
Purity of Faith is another Stratagem you’ll always want to keep in your back pocket. If you’re going against a Spirit Bomb Magnus list and he just rolled a 13 on 2D6, you can pop 1CP and still have a 50/50 chance to deny the witch. Magnus did everything wrong.
While we haven’t covered the uses of every Stratagem out there, they definitely have answers including giving a unit the ability to advance and charge as well as causing a 6″ pseudo-fearless bubble for units that have to take morale.
Sororitas Points Values Revealed
We first saw adjusted points in the beta codex from last year’s Chapter Approved. However, it looks like they’ve gotten a few tweaks as well as all-new units getting seeded into the ranks as well!
Overall, the points look to be on the lower end of the spectrum (as it should be with spammable T3 bodies). As far as characters go, they’re about on the same spectrum as GSC characters.
One of the biggest head-scratchers out of this book looks to be like storm shields are free. There are still some units out there that we are still waiting to see covered, which probably won’t happen until 2020. However, a free storm shield on the right unit might be a one-way ticket to value town that we’ve never seen before (unless it’s JUST for the crusaders).
