Just like Carrion Empire, The Looncurse Box Set looks to already be sold out here in the states. This the weekend may be the only time you can find it…
Looncurse was a Box Set we didn’t really see coming. We knew something was on the way via the previews but we just couldn’t quite put our finger on it. However, even after the short notice that this Box Set was announced, it turns out that the Box Set is already sold out online here in the states.
UPDATE: Looncurse is sold out on the UK Games Workshop webstore as well.
Just like Carrion Empire, you may only be able to find these in a few stores over the weekend.
With that said, let’s look at the value of everything coming in the box one more time.
Looncurse Box Set Value
Gloomspite Gitz:
- 1x Squig Herders $45
- 1x 5-man Squig Hoppers/ 1x 5-man Boingrot Bounders $50 (Comes in a box of ten normally. Can be made into Hoppers or Bounders on its own kit. We aren’t sure you’ll have the option in the Box Set).
- 1x Loonboss on Cave Squig $35 (The old model is $22.25 right now but we think the update will drive the cost up more).
Total Cost: $130
Total points: 440
Sylvaneth:
- 1x Kurnoth Hunters $58
- 1x 10 Tree Revenants $74 (Comes in kits of 5 for $37 normally).
- 1x Arch Revenant $35 (This is a new model but we’re guessing he’s a bit bigger than the smaller Sylvaneth characters making him cost a bit more).
Total Cost: $167
Total Points: 360 for the stuff that exists. We’ll throw another 100 for the new Arch Revenant model totaling 460.
Total Estimated Box Set Value (Gitz & Sylvaneth): $297
All in all, it looks like the Sylvaneth are making it out the best with the Box Set. By dropping the $160 on the box, they’re making their money back on Sylvaneth alone. The Gloomspite Gitz may be lacking in the value department, but the points are fairly close together. Either way, the Looncurse box is definitely a solid start to both armies.
We May Not See the Looncurse Again for a While
Carrion Empire was a huge success pitting the Flesheater Courts and Skaven against one another. Both sides had one new character as well. Really, the Looncurse is just a duplicate version of this Box Set. However, it’s been months since this Box Set sold out and we haven’t heard any kind of word it would ever be coming back. Skaven and Flesheater Courts players are still waiting to see the exclusive characters come out in a clampack.
That being said, time is running out for you to get the new characters out of the Looncurse along with a handful of models at a great value. Will you be picking up Looncurse the chance you see it in stores? Which faction will you be playing? Let us know in the comments of our Facebook Hobby Group.
