AoS 4th Edition Kharadron Overlords Rules

Merchant Lords of the Skies

Here is the latest on the Kharadron Overlords rules for the 4th Edition Age of Sigmar from Warhammer Community. The heart and soul of the Kharadron forces are these plucky naval crews who spend their days and nights aboard flying ships, ready to fend off airborne nasties with a hail of gunfire.

These Arkanaut Companies are a tough-as-nails bunch, driven to fight for their chunk of aether-gold – their ticket to the good life – thanks to contracts signed before they even set sail.Whether they’re diving into the fray from the ship’s sides or guarding a stash of treasure on solid ground, these Durdains are in it to win it.

Battle Traits

Kharadron Overlords Rules 2The secret sauce of the Kharadron game plan? Their nimble SKYVESSELS, of course! Everything they do revolves around squeezing every last drop of potential from these flying marvels. Frigates and Ironclads are the go-to taxis, shuttling Skyfarers to those all-important objectives and into the thick of battle.

But here’s the kicker – aspiring Admirals better have their wits about them. According to the Core Rules, any unit set up outside the deployment phase is grounded for the movement phase of that turn. Yep, that includes troops dropped off by airship.

But don’t fret! Swooping down from the clouds offers a treasure trove of tactical options. Picture this: a SKYVESSEL packed with troops starts the game soaring high, only to swoop down and rain chaos at just the right moment.

Their firepower is so intense it doubles as a defensive move, making it a real headache for enemies trying to target Arkanauts sheltered under Skyvessel Cover.

Battle Formations

Kharadron Overlords Rules 3Admirals have a ton of tricks up their sleeves to get the best out of their fleets. But sometimes, just sometimes, they get roped into missions by the Endrineers Guild for all sorts of odd jobs.

Captains might gripe about the wasted time and lost profits, but they usually perk up when the Guild’s Special Procurement delivers some shiny, powerful prototype tech. The best part? This nifty perk lets you snag a second artefact of power during the deployment phase, giving you a perfect chance to customize your loadout based on your opponent’s army.

Artefacts of Power

Kharadron Overlords Rules 4

The Endrineers have some cool toys up their sleeves for your officers, offering a choice of three artefacts to boost their skills. First up, we’ve got the impressively named Blazebeard and Sons ‘Drakk-Hobbler’ Mag-bolas, perfect for tripping up any rampaging MONSTER.

Then there’s the Celestium Burst Grenade, which shuts down wards just before you unleash a devastating volley, making those big bads think twice before charging at your Arkanaut line.

Now, even though the Kharadron aren’t exactly spell-slingers – they’ve got zero talent for magic and even less interest in it – they’ve come up with clever ways to counteract any pesky spellcraft. Favored captains are armed with Voidstone Orbs, ready to snuff out important enemy spells without breaking a sweat. Magic? What magic?

4th Edition AoS Kharadron Overlords Rules Warscrolls

Brokk Grungsson

Kharadron Overlords Rules 5

Meet Brokk Grungsson, the wealthiest Duardin in the legendary sky-port of Barak-Nar. He’s just a notch below the ruling Admirals Council, but unlike many of his rich buddies, Brokk loves to get his hands dirty right on the front lines. Decked out in a pristine warsuit lifted by miniaturized endrins, he’s packing an arsenal that could arm an entire squad of Grundstok Thunderers.

But Brokk isn’t just about brute force. His knack for commanding troops is legendary. Just having him around makes his soldiers fight harder, thanks to the First Rule of Grungsson: ‘To the victor, go the spoils.’ Plus, he’s got a knack for battlefield tactics, skillfully Commanding the Fleet so his ships can fire away even after making a mad dash across the field.

Arkanaut Frigate

Kharadron Overlords Rules 6

The Arkanaut Frigate is the go-to workhorse of the Kharadron sky-fleets, striking the perfect balance between strength, speed, and versatility. This bad boy is decked out with high-damage weapons and roomy compartments for hauling troops.

But what really sets the Frigate apart is its role as an Assault Boat. Bold captains love to use their spear-tip prow to ram right into the enemy, then unload a bunch of feisty Arkanauts. These surprise attacks leave enemies reeling, making them easy pickings for Arkanaut cutters and aethershot carbines to finish off.

Skywardens

Kharadron Overlords Rules 7Flying around the Mortal Realms is no walk in the park, with sky-fleets constantly under threat. Enter the Skywardens, the Kharadron’s airborne guardians who deal swift death to any flying foes. Armed with razor-sharp skypikes and vulcaniser pistols that shoot superheated blasts, these guys can zoom across the battlefield to rescue a beleaguered ship in no time.

But their real party trick? Mastering explosive sky-mines. These clever gadgets use Timed Charges to catch enemy warriors in massive blasts, all while the Skywardens make a clean getaway. Talk about leaving the enemy in the dust!

Grundstok Thunderers

Kharadron Overlords Rules 8Not all of a fleet’s ground troops hail from the Arkanaut Companies. When things get really hairy, the expert sharpshooters of the Grundcorps step in. These Grundstok Thunderers might charge a hefty fee in aether-gold, but their pinpoint shooting skills and tenacity in close combat make them worth every penny.

You’ll notice the weapon options have been streamlined for easier gameplay, so you can equip your unit with whatever looks coolest without bogging down the action. When ordered to Hold the Position, Grundstok Thunderers plant themselves firmly and unleash a storm of fire at close range.

Their die-hard attitude means they’ll even fire mortars and cannons at point-blank range, trusting their tough armor to shield them from their unfortunate foes’ resulting shrapnel and the remains.

While many Spearhead forces boast hordes of troops or powerful elites, the Skyhammer Task Force has something unique – a flying war machine. This elite crew of Arkanauts and Skywardens, led by a seasoned Admiral, relies on their impressive array of firearms to secure victory.

The Arkanaut Frigate is the heart of the Skyhammer Task Force and must be carefully managed to prevent losing it – and a huge chunk of the group’s firepower and mobility – early on.

“Spearhead” is a standalone game that’s just right for diving into epic battles in Age of Sigmar. It’s small enough to fit on a kitchen or coffee table, and you only need one Spearhead box to get the games going for the 4th Edition.

The best part? You can snag free downloads with different rules, warscrolls, and objectives.

Overall, the Kharadron Overlords are a fascinating mix of high-flying tactics, ingenious technology, and relentless grit. From the daring naval crews and their versatile airships to the tactical prowess of their SKYVESSELS and the raw power of their unique artefacts, every aspect of their forces is designed for maximum impact.
