The Next Big Warhammer Preview:

Dallas Open Warhammer PreviewThe stage is set, and the countdown has begun— we’re about to be treated to a showcase of epic previews and reveals at the Dallas Open 2025. We spotted this listing for the next preview as part of their Warhammer 40k and Horus Heresy Tournaments. However, there are bound to be plenty of new models to look forward to from other game systems as well.

Dallas Open Warhammer Preview 2Let’s break it down. The Preview kicks off for tournament viewers on Thursday, May 22nd, at 10 PM EST (or Friday, May 23rd, at 2 AM GMT for our early risers across the pond). For those lucky enough to attend in person, you’ll catch all the action before the rest of the world. The actual times for the online preview have not been announced yet.

But don’t fret if you’re streaming from home—everything will be live on Warhammer Community and Twitch, and we’ll have all the previews here on Spikey Bits for you as well!

A New Edition of Horus Heresy to Be Revealed?

salamander hor walIf the rumors are right, Games Workshop is gearing up for something huge in the Horus Heresy range. Word on the street is that a massive 3.0 edition box set is on the way, bringing Salamanders vs. Iron Warriors into the spotlight. And by massive, we’re talking 40-50 miniatures, including plastic Mark II armor, Saturnine Terminators, and a completely new gun emplacement.

This wouldn’t be just another army box—it’s shaping up to be a full reset of the game. Horus Heresy 2.0 dropped in 2022, and given GW’s well-established three-year release cycle, the timing lines up perfectly. With Warhammer 40k 11th Edition rumored for next year, it makes sense for GW to push Horus Heresy into its next chapter now before shifting focus over to 40k for 2026.

Here are all the rumored models coming in the box, and then you can see more about the rumors here.

  • Plastic Mark II Tactical Marines (Troops with bolters)
  • Plastic Mark II Heavy Weapon Teams
  • Plastic Mark II Praetor
  • Saturnine Terminators (Two units of three, with multiple build options)
  • Saturnine Praetor (A large model, possibly a centerpiece character)
  • Saturnine Dreadnought (Larger and bulkier than current Horus Heresy Dreadnoughts)
  • New Artillery or Defensive Structure (Brand new to the Horus Heresy, designed to sit on the table as a big battlefield piece)
  • Horus Heresy 3.0 Rulebook
  • Templates & Gaming Accessories

What’s Next for 40k at the Dallas Open 2025 Previews?

If you’re a fan of the fiery Salamanders, the stout-hearted Leagues of Votann, or the steadfast Imperial Fists, it seems like there’s something cool on the horizon for everyone.

This time, the rumors, courtesy of Valrak, are for new chapter models that have been a bit overlooked (and maybe because some will be in the Cavill Amazon series).

Here’s a breakdown of the latest rumored Space Marine models said to be coming in 2025:

  • Old Armor Marks in Primaris Size: It looks like GW might rerelease older Space Marine armor marks in one universal size that ends the Primaris vs. Firstborn designation.
  • LVO Previews: GW’s latest 40k Roadmap looks to show new Black Templars and Salamanders “On the Horizon”
  • Assault Terminators: A newly designed and scaled dedicated close-combat-focused kit.
  • Updated Lysander Model: A new version of the Imperial Fists hero, potentially with a leadership role update.
  • New Land Speeder Variants: Speculated to replace or update the Scout Land Speeder.
  • Multi-Part Outriders Kit: Customizable bikers with new weapon options and possibly a character model.
  • Vanguard Veterans: Overhauled elite warriors, rumored to align with the Primaris aesthetic.
  • Raven Guard Character: A shadowy addition to their stealth-focused roster?
  • Iron Hands Terminator Character: Likely a new named figure to bolster their bionics-heavy style?
  • New Salamanders Character Vulkan He’stan: A long-overdue refresh for the Salamanders’ fiery leader?
  • White Scars Jet Bike Character: A high-speed addition, possibly hinting at further jet bike expansions.

Let’s break it down and see what’s potentially coming for the Emperor’s finest. Just remember, these are rumors, so nothing is confirmed for new Space Marines until Games Workshop reveals it!

“The Future”

But take a closer look at the art, and boom—it screams classic Raven Guard vibes, straight out of the old-school GW playbook. But of course, these are rumors, so even though we think it, it’s not true until GW says it!

Raven Guard ArtThere’ve been whispers floating around about a potential rework for them, and this? This feels like the first real breadcrumb. Raven Guard players, it might be time to let the hype engines warm up. And honestly, it tracks—they’re the sneaky types. Of course, they wouldn’t just barge in and announce new goodies. Stealth mode engaged.
