Saturnine Starter Box Set Review
Let’s talk Saturnine Boxed Set 3rd Edition Starter for Warhammer: The Horus Heresy Age of Darkness. It’s not just a box. It’s 50 miniatures looking at you like, “So… you wanna throw down or what?” This thing’s loaded and ready to drag you into the Age of Darkness, whether your backlog agrees or not.
You’d better get ready to play some more Horus Heresy games and break out your Concussion Hammers and the Saturnine Terminator Armour (not those Cataphractii and Tartaros patterns)!
And yeah, it comes with what we think will be a pretty solid price tag too. Saving money and expanding your legion? That’s basically hobby black magic.
Bottom line: it’s a fresh excuse to start a new army and pretend you’ll paint it before the next big box set drops. We’re not judging, especially after that amazing cinematic trailer.

Saturnine Box Set Unboxing & Review
While there are other 50 models in this box, which is an incredible value for the price, even though it’s the most expensive starter box set ever from Games Workshop. The release has raises some real red flags for us after it failed to sell out.
First, if stores hadn’t bought the bundle of other products offered for this release, they wouldn’t have any other Marine releases to sell. We find this a very strange situation, launching a new edition of a game when your main faction is almost completely sold out with no estimated restock time.
This is similar to what happened in 2022 with the Age of Darkness release, when people were literally unable to build their armies.
This resulted in most stores selling off Horus Heresy up to 50% off that Black Friday weekend in 2022 after the starters and other items had gone off the GW’s website, and they were allowed to discount deeper than normal
Secondly, despite all the marketing, the Horror Hersay site, the leaks, and nearly two months of previews, seeing it fall flat on its first day has to be a real disappointment for shops and stores all around the world, especially during a traditionally slow sales period in the summer.
The only difference between this release and the release in 2022 is that the majority of the models were still in fact playable in Warhammer 40k until dozens were removed to Legends in 2023 with the release of 10th edition.

Is it Worth It?
In short, yes! This will come with all new minis like the Saturnine Terminator, and save you a ton of money. Plus, you get the rules for a new edition!
If you play Horus Heresy and want new minis, get this box. And maybe even get a few Saturnine war axes to boot. Well, that is as long as GW doesn’t heavily allocate it.

What to Buy Next?
Now that we know there will be additional rulebooks and, of course, a plastic Fellblade, there is a ton to load up on to supplement this box set.
For now, we’ll wait, but you can never go wrong with grabbing the new liber rules either for the new edition! The rule of cool will never die, but the meta will shift all the time!
Conclusion on Value
So, there you have it! The new Horus Heresy Saturnine 3rd Edition Starter Set for 2025 is shaping up to be a super solid buy for anyone looking to start a new army or just amp up their existing collection.
With its great value and a nice mix of new Saturnine Terminator and MKII armor models, it’s like getting a leg up on the battlefield (pun intended) without breaking the bank.
