The new Horus Heresy Saturnine Starter Box Set started out as a big leak, but after the official preview for the game’s third edition, it looks fantastic!
Packed with must-have and brand-new units for building or expanding your Space Marine army, everyone is seemingly talking about its contents, release date, and just how much you’re saving compared to buying everything separately.
Ready to see if the new Horus Heresy starter set is the best bang for your buck? We have our take on this box, with a breakdown of what’s inside and how it stacks up against the other box sets out there.
Contents List, Release Date, Pricing & Value
The Horus Heresy Saturnine 3rd Edition Starter Set Box is packed with 50 miniatures that bring back the old school Space Marine Legions look to the forefront.
It has a release date that’s still TBD, but the rumor is July 26, with pre-orders opening July 12 as revealed in this image posted on Reddit.
Interestingly, the GBP price appears to indicate that the USD price will be between $300 and $350 when GW’s local currency conversions (arbitrage) are taken into account. For now, though, it’s a waiting game till the official announcement from Games Workshop.
Here is a contents list of what comes inside now that it’s been previewed by GW:
- 1x Saturnine Praetor
- 1x Centurion in MKII Armor
- 1x Saturnine Dreadnought
- 1x Araknae Quad Accelerator Platform
- 6x Saturnine Terminator (With Plasma Bombards or Disruption Fists)
- 40x Legionaries in MKII Crusade Armour
- 2x Disintegrator Infantry Upgrades
Saturnine Starter Box Set Review
Let’s talk Saturnine Boxed Set 3rd Edition Starter for Warhammer: The Horus Heresy Age of Darkness. It’s not just a box. It’s 50 miniatures looking at you like, “So… you wanna throw down or what?” This thing’s loaded and ready to drag you into the Age of Darkness, whether your backlog agrees or not.
You’d better get ready to play some more Horus Heresy games and break out your Concussion Hammers and the Saturnine Terminator Armour (not those Cataphractii and Tartaros patterns)!
And yeah, it comes with what we think will be a pretty solid price tag too. Saving money and expanding your legion? That’s basically hobby black magic.
Bottom line: it’s a fresh excuse to start a new army and pretend you’ll paint it before the next box set drops. We’re not judging, especially after that amazing cinematic trailer.

Is it Worth It?
In short, yes! This will come with all new minis like the Saturnine Terminator, and save you a ton of money. Plus, you get the rules for a new edition!
If you play Horus Heresy and want new minis, get this box. And maybe even get a few Saturnine war axes to boot.
Well, that is as long as GW doesn’t heavily allocate it.
