GW revealed some Horus Heresy Night Lords rules ahead of the new edition- check out what this Space Marines legion can do!
With the release of the starter and new edition imminent, it’s time for GW to start revealing rules. This time around, they are focusing on the 8th legion, but we’ve also seen some Horus Heresy playtest rules rumors for the other Space Marines legions here, so if you’re more worried about what the other legions might be up to, be sure to check those out.

Warhammer Community showed off some new legion-specific rules; let’s check them out!
New Horus Heresy Night Lords Rules Revealed!
Even before their Primarch was discovered, the VIII Legion preferred to mix war and crimes. The Emperor drafted their initial complement from children raised in Terra’s vast subterranean prisons – a whole generation of feral kids born in absolute darkness. What could go wrong with making supersoldiers out of life-without-parolers?
Luckily, the Emperor had a plan in mind. Terra was full of dastardly sorts defying his newly-established laws – how could he make it clear that such atrocities wouldn’t be tolerated in his new regime? Obviously, by inflicting worse atrocities on the offenders!* With the VIII Legion policing the galaxy, the Imperium was ready to impose control through fear – and it never really stopped.
Let’s hope GW can really keep the flavor of this terrifying legion!
The Night Lords don’t mess around when it comes to war. Their sadistic streak, honed to a scalpel’s edge by the lessons of their Primarch, makes them exceptional at pressing the advantage against an opponent who’s on the back foot and capitalising on the fear they instill in their foes. A fair fight is for idiots with more honour than sense – why bother with the art of war when you’ve got A Talent for Murder?
Getting +1 to the wound and AP roll is honestly just super strong! Just make sure to take big units to take advantage of this rule.

As befits gene-crafted warriors clad in advanced technological armour, the Night Lords favour big nasty chain weapons covered in jagged teeth. How chainblades became the weapon of choice on Nostramo is a mystery, but you can’t argue with their effectiveness – nothing screams terror like a gang of bat-faced murderers brandishing five-foot chainsaws.
With every version giving good AP and Strength bonuses, not to mention all the special rules, these will tear through your enemies!
Those Night Lords commanders who have spent a little bit too long in the torture chambers develop a certain artistic flair, worthy of the title of Flaymaster. These artisans of the abhorrent turn fallen foes into bloody arts-and-crafts projects that even frighten other Space Marines. Everyone needs a hobby!
First off, getting an extra action is always strong, then if you can get your Warlord up to Fear (3), enemies will be fleeing all over the place!
Konrad Curze Rules
Everyone’s favorite emo Primarch! Let’s check out the rules.
He has some sweet stats and then his Warlord Trait makes so much sense! He makes the army fearless and good at night fighting, who would have guessed that?
He has some awesome wargear, his melee weapons are super strong, and his widowmaker is also quite powerful. Then, his power really buffs him up a ton, and overall, he’s just super flavorful.
Legion Specific Rules
It’s cool they can be used as an HQ choice, then you can also take them as a retinue, so pretty flexible. On top of that, if they can get close, their Volkite Cavitor can rip through units!
The power claw is super strong with Murderous Strie, shred, AP 2, and Sx2.
You really want to pin units with this army as when you charge them, you’ll be getting all kinds of bonuses. Which Trophies of Judgement really helps with!
