GW previewed some Horus Heresy Thousand Sons rules for the new edition, and they are still very flavorful- check it out!
With the release of the starter and new edition imminent, it’s time for GW to start revealing new HH rules. This time around, they are focusing on the Thousand Sons.
Warhammer Community showed off some new legion-specific rules; let’s check them out!
New Horus Heresy Thousand Rules are Full of Psykers!
Being a great scholar might not seem all that useful on the battlefield, especially when everyone else is raising mighty fortresses or revving up their favourite chainaxe as they charge into battle. Fortunately, the Thousand Sons are such big brains that they can see into the future, read minds, or just set people on fire with a thought..
As you might expect, the sons of Magnus can field psykers. A lot of psykers. All the psykers, in fact.
For only 15 points you can make every infantry and cavalry unit a psyker! Pretty on point with the legion and just gives you so many psychic powers to throw around! This also means your characters can pay the 15 points to gain an extra psychic power!
Cults and psychic trickery are all well and good, but what if the enemy starts shooting at you while you’re busy predicting the next time they’re going to shoot at you? Simply use your skills as a magician to make their bullets disappear! There’s nothing up your ceramite sleeves…
If you pass the check, getting a 3+ invulnerable save against big guns is really awesome! Even if you fail, you still get a 5+ which isn’t bad; however, you also suffer perils if you fail the check.
Magnus the Red
They didn’t show off his rules, but luckily we have the rules from the interwebs!
His staline isn’t the best out of the Primarchs, but he makes up for it in special rules. Basically your entire army grabs the Adamantium Will rules and you take fewer wounds from perils, which is just nice. Not to mention all the special rules he has on top of that.
Arch-Sorcerer is super strong as you get all the psychic traits and can actually use different psychic weapons, oh yeah and he can just automatically pass all minor Arcana checks. The Horned Raiment makes him super tough and his weapons are quite strong.
Thousand Sons Legion Specific Rules
They have some really cool Warlord traits and as you can expect, they all deal with Psychic stuff. Whether you want to add a punch to your attacks or just make your Psychic Tests that much better.
You can increase your normal bolter strength, which is really nice to grab shred on all your weapons, and for 1 point, might be worthwhile! Then, the fire cannons are just nice upgrades to take on your units!
They have a pretty decent statline and can take a lot of different weapon options.
Their power is really strong, if you pass the check, these turn into combat monsters with bonuses to Movement, WS, and Attacks.
