The Galactic Empire is getting a massive boost with the Executor joining their forces soon. Let’s get a closer look at this monster of a ship.
Fantasy Flight Games announced that the Executor is coming to Star Wars Armada last week and unveiled it in a case at GenCon. The Executor is jaw-droppingly huge in the movies and they did a fantastic job scaling it to the tabletop. Check out some of the details with us.
If you missed the first previews of the ship, you can check it all out now.

We’ve already mentioned that the introduction of the Super Star Destroyer also marks the introduction of a new class of ships: huge ships. And this new class of ship has powers that reach far beyond mere size. For instance, the Super Star Destroyer features a total of six firing arcs—supplementing the standard front, rear, left, and right firing arcs with brand-new right-auxiliary and left-auxiliary firing arcs.
Because of its size, it can actually fire from three different firing arcs every round in the game. Another unique feature to the Huge class of the ship is that it has the ability to “pass”. In a round where you would normally have to activate the Executor, you can actually skip any activations for it and pass. Use this to your advantage by forcing your opponent to activate another one of their ships before you open fire.
Power Unparalleled
Power comes at a price. The cheapest way to field the Executor is the Star Dreadnought Command Prototype for 220 points. For this, you’ll be getting eight attack dice on the front-firing arc, six ship tokens, a hull value of twenty-two, and nine upgrade slots.
Of course, you know the Emperor can ride in this thing so what can he do exactly? For starters, he costs 35 points to run as the commander. When you deploy your fleets, you can put one of each kind of token on him and discard one every round. If you do, whenever your opponent tries to spend one of those tokens the next round, it’s discarded instead. Talk about disruption!
Look for the Super Star Destroyer Expansion in the early first quarter of 2019. It is available for pre-order now as well. There are sure to be even more previews for this behemoth so be sure to check back with us in the future.
