Meta Monday 40k Army Lists, January 21st, 2025

The “end” of the 2024 Warhammer 40k 10th Edition ITC Season brings lots of army list innovation to the meta. With the final push of the year, we saw the biggest tournament in the history of the game take place at the Las Vegas Open (Las Vegas, NV, 1053 players) and the Hamburg Major (Hamburg, Germany, 103 players).

With a literal new detachment every day in December and several new codexes on the horizon, the 40k Meta Mondays are wild right now for every faction in 10th Edition.

Deathwatch is back on the menu. Mark rolled through the entire field of over 1000 people at LVO with a pile of durable bodies juiced up for any occasion with target-perfect ammo strategems.

This list has multiple units with hard to crack defensive profiles, and varying offensive profiles thanks to a suite of strategems built for purpose. The Terminator bricks are efficient playing into so many armies, cleaning up everything from hordes to elites with their bolter and missile launcher combos.

Next up is the brand new Indomitor Kill Team, and let me tell you, if you haven’t been shot by this unit, it’s… an experience! This Killteam also has a weapon profile for every opponent that gets even more powerful with the ability to up-down, and it gets +2 Strength to all attacks if you happen to be closest, they crush.

Lastly is the other new datasheet, the Talonstrike Kill Team, which also gets huge buffs every turn it is set up on the battlefield, +1 AP and Lance!

Deathwatch is extremely efficient already, and you have a strategem to deliver damage to any target. Those things considered make this LVO run a lot less surprising but not any less impressive!

Where have all the Doomsday Arks gone?! Only one was taken by Jens, opting for more mission play, and he was rewarded with a 5-0 finish for it!

The other datasheet creeping around the battlefield that sends shivers down an opponent’s spine, is the Triarch Stalker. Jens opted to take two of these extremely efficient point-per-wound (110 for 12 T8 Wounds) models that strip cover with a 4+ Invuln!

Skirting around the outskirts of the battlefield is another incredible Necron datasheet, the Tomb Blades. They give Necrons a fast and deliverable asset for doing actions or denying opponents’ primary.

Finally, the damage does come through on this list with incredible efficiency from The Silent King and 6 Lokhust Destroyers with a Lord. These units can put out damage into any target crazy enough to get within 8+D6+24″ of them!
