3 Psychic Powers Blood Angels Need: Blood of Baal

Sanguinius primarch wal horBlood of Baal is bringing in a new Mephiston model and hopefully some new psychic powers. Check out the 3 we think they need!

In Blood of Baal, the third book of Psychic Awakening, we’ll be seeing new rules for both Blood Angels and Tyranids in the form of relics, Warlord Traits, and hopefully Psychic Powers. But looking specifically at some weak-points in the Blood Angels psychic table, we’ve been brainstorming some possible powers that we may see potentially…

New Primaris Mephiston Revealed

Before jumping into the psychic powers we’d like to see, it’s important to note that the new Primaris Mephiston is coming alongside Blood of Baal and it would be a sorely missed opportunity for GW to skip over Psychic Powers. Just look at this guy. He’s the main smart boi of the entire Blood Angels Chapter.

Psychic Powers We’d Like To See Blood Angels Get

The best two psychic powers out of the Blood Angels discipline is by far, Wings of Sanguinius and Quickening. These two give an insane amount of movement and bonus attacks that are really too good to pass up. Blood Angels Librarians can turn themselves into Smash Captains from these two powers alone.

Sure, the 5++ invuln from Shield of Sanguinius and Unleash Rage definitely have their uses on something like a Death Company blob. But for Blood Boil and Blood Lance, they’re almost never used.

So what are some psychic powers that would be fitting for the Blood Angels, but still useful? How about these!

[Remember] These are just ideas of what we’d like to see. Nothing is confirmed here.

Share in our Death (WC7)- The Librarian floods the enemy’s mind with visions of their death (just as Sanguinius had) forcing them to go mad in a blind fury of rage. select a unit within 18″ and roll 3D6 against their leadership. If equaled or passed, each model in the unit makes a single close combat attack against itself. -This is to simulate everyone turning on each other. The only stipulation would be that there has to be more than one model in the unit… So characters would be off-limits here.

Paralyzing Gaze (WC5)- The Librarian focuses their rage at an enemy with white-hot burning eyes, paralyzing them in fear. Pick an enemy unit within 6″ of the Psyker, until your next psychic phase, and as long as the Psyker is alive, that unit always fights last and is at a -1 to hit.  This is useful but definitely fair with such a short amount of range… The Librarian will have to be close to the fight to pull this off.

Raining Blood (WC7)- The Librarian pulls out his Walkman CD-player and pops in the 1986 Slayer album. Raining Blood is turned to max volume and actual blood starts falling from the sky. Enemy units within 18″ of the Psyker are at a -2 Leadership until your next psychic phase. The fluff behind the psychic power is a stretch, but the power would still be great against Gretchin, Guard, etc.

With Blood of Baal coming up, what would you like to see the Blood Angels book?
