There have been a few iterations of the new miniature; here is how the Emperor’s Champion models have changed throughout the years!
With GW’s new Warhammer Day 2022 miniature, it’s time to start dreaming about crusading for the Emperor again. Still, you need someone to lead that crusade, and who is better than the Emperor’s Champion himself?
Let’s start with the newest mini, then go back through time to see them all.
All The Emperor’s Champion Models Through the Years
Entitled Bayard’s Revenge, this astounding model features an Emperor’s Champion triumphing over a mighty Ork Nob. It’s an incredible miniature to add to your collection, an amazing painting challenge, or a splendid centrepiece for a Black Templars force. And what’s more, it’s based on an iconic piece of Warhammer 40,000 artwork.
You’ll be able to pre-order this incredible duel from the 8th of October from the Games Workshop webstore, or you can pick one up from your local shop between the 15th and 23rd.
This model is sure to be hated by Ork players, but honestly, it’s pretty cool, and with the extended pre-order period, everyone should be able to grab one if they really want.
The Forgotten Hero
This little guy has been around since the release of 3rd edition 40k in the late 1990s. It was an interesting addition to the lore now that the Champion has evolved into a full Primaris bad boy.
You can still grab some of these on eBay if you really want one in your army for not that many hobby dollars.
The First of Many
Released back in 2015 by Forge World, Sigismund represented the first of many Emperor’s Champions.
Wielding the Black Sword, a paragon blade of ancient and unknown provenance, Sigismund has brought countless warriors and warlords to a bloody end. Now, as the Horus Heresy unfolds, he has turned his consummate skill with the blade against the Traitor Legions, ready to strike down all who oppose the Emperor of Mankind and endanger the Imperium he helped build.
The Firstborn & Primaris Version
This firstborn mini had been around tabletops for many, many years now. So, it’s no surprise (considering it’s a Space Marine) that it would eventually get a reboot (well, now two, sort of).

Honestly, this is a pretty cool mini, and it saw a lot of armies through some serious battles. If you love this old version, the good news is that the current primaris one looks pretty similar.
This new Emperor’s Champion is actually a careful homage to a classic model from antiquity – Warhammer 40,000’s third edition – which honours Chapter tradition by retaining an iconic pose.
They finally went Primaris with the 2021 release of Black Templars, so at least your champion doesn’t have to be smaller than the rest of your army!Past, present, or near-future 40k, whichever is your style, there may be an Emperor’s Champion for you!
