Is It Worth It?
Honestly, with $30 of the value being made up by the old upgrade sprues (pictured), this really isn’t a great deal. If the box had 10 Hellblasters, it would be pretty decent. However, if you don’t want the captain and the upgrade sprues, you actually lose money.
But… if you do need everything inside, this will save you some cash and get you a decent starting force and some upgrades. The newer 10th Edition Combat Patrols have been underwhelming so far, and this is following the trend, but it at least has more value than the previous two we’ve seen.
How Many Points Is It?
So, you’re wondering how many points the Dark Angels Combat Patrol box racks up, eh? Well, in Warhammer 40k 10th edition, this box hits with about 450 points. But, as you know, the tides of the Grimdark universe are ever-shifting, and with the latest points updates, that number could quickly fluctuate.
One minute, you’re ready to purge heretics, and the next, you’re recalculating your list because the points gods have decided to have some fun.

Hellblasters
Imperial observers say a Hellblaster Squad’s firepower is like a stellar flare on steroids. Plasma bolts scorch the battlefield, turning anyone in their sights into crispy ash and glowing motes of what used to be flesh and bone. Even armored vehicles end up as sad piles of metallic slag. When positioned just right, a single Hellblaster Squad can halt a roaring armored assault or take down the biggest alien monstrosities with ease.
Bladeguard Veterans
Bladeguard Veterans are the unstoppable badasses of the battlefield, marching forward with blades raised high like the noble knights of legend. As elite members of their Chapter’s 1st Company Veterans, these seasoned Space Marines have battled to save the Imperium across countless worlds.
Intercessors Combat Squad
A reliable and versatile crew of warriors who can fire while moving or securing terrain is a tactician’s best friend. For strike forces reinforced with Primaris battle-brothers, the Intercessor Squads take on this role.
These squads are masters of unleashing overlapping waves of firepower and often become the adaptable backbone of newly-founded Primaris Chapters. Naturally, established Chapters haven’t missed out on their potential, deploying them alongside their Tactical Squads with gusto.
Captain in Gravis Armour
Captains are the fearless leaders of the Space Marines, blending tactical genius with serious combat skills. Decked out in heavy Gravis armor, these warriors stride confidently into the most intense battlefield firestorms. Wearing Gravis armor isn’t just for show; it’s a bold statement of their ironclad resolve to crush the enemy, no matter how tough the fight.
Dark Angels Primaris Upgrade sprues
Completely compatible with all existing multi-part Space Marine kits, this upgrade pack is a dream come true for Dark Angels fans. It includes a sprue packed with 19 amazing parts.
New Dark Angels Combat Patrol Rules
As you’d expect from a Combat Patrol built for mayhem, the Vengeful Brethren comes loaded with rules to help you dominate the battlefield. The Dark Angels may be all about their secrets, but they’re still Space Marines at heart, rocking the same Oath of Moment army rule as before.
What sets them apart this time are new Enhancements, secondary objectives, and Stratagems that sharpen their melee game even more. You can get all the new Dark Angels Combat Patrol rules right here.
Wages of Retribution Rule
The battle-brothers of the Unforgiven Chapters don’t always get the full story on why certain enemies are singled out for destruction or capture—secrecy is just part of their leaders’ playbook. But they don’t mind, because doing their duty is reward enough. After all, their Primarch always said, “duty is its own reward.”
Every time an Adeptus Astartes model from your army takes down your Oath of Moment target, as long as the bearer is still on the battlefield, roll a D6. On a 4+, you score 1 Command Point. Duty with a little bonus!
Stratagem
The Dark Angels are so stubborn and relentless that even death can’t stop their wrath. For the rest of the phase, when a model in your unit is destroyed and hasn’t fought yet, roll a D6 (add one if they’re from a Bladeguard Veteran Squad). On a 4+, that model sticks around just long enough to fight back after the enemy finishes their attacks, and then they’re removed. Even in death, they refuse to go quietly!
What to Buy Next?
That’s hard to say, as this doesn’t really give you anything to go Ravenwing or Deathwing, but it has Intercessors that are always decent. If you want to go Deathwing, we would try to find a Deathwing Assault box on Amazon or eBay. For Ravenguard, you have to start buying vehicles and bikes! If you want to go more generic, you’ll still want some vehicles, Dreads, and plenty more infantry!
There is also something to be said about just buying the minis you think are cool and building an army around them! Don’t forget to grab the new rules for this faction and brush up on how to play them. We’ve got you covered in this article!
The Dark Angels Combat Patrol offers a great way for new players to start building their armies and explore the faction.
