Sharpen your blades, prep your paints, and clear your calendars—because the Warhammer 40k hype train is rolling straight into the Las Vegas Open (LVO) 2025 with some new previews and reveals! Games Workshop has confirmed that this year’s preview event is loaded with updates that’ll have hobbyists buzzing.

From Warhammer 40,000 to Age of Sigmar, the long-awaited return of Beastmen to The Old World, Necromunda, and more, there’s a massive hobby galaxy of exciting reveals on the horizon. Ready to see what’s next for 2025?

The Next Big Warhammer Previews: Las Vegas Open (LVO) 2025

LVO previewsThe stage is set, and the countdown has begun—Warhammer players are about to be treated to a showcase of epic proportions at the Las Vegas Open 2025. This year’s Warhammer Preview promises massive reveals and updates across fan-favorite universes.

Whether your passion lies in Warhammer 40,000, Age of Sigmar, the return of The Old World, Necromunda, or Black Library, there are plenty of new models to look forward to.

Let’s break it down. The Preview kicks off for online viewers on Thursday, January 16th, at 9 PM PST (or Friday, January 17th, at 5 AM GMT for our early risers across the pond). For those lucky enough to attend in person, you’ll catch all the action before the rest of the world. But don’t fret if you’re streaming from home—everything will be live on Warhammer Community and Twitch, and we’ll have all the previews here for you as well!

This preview isn’t just about shiny new models or rulebooks (though we’re betting those will make an appearance). This year, we’ll also get our first look at some of 2025’s freshest offerings. New factions? Updates to your favorite lore? Something unexpected? The speculation is half the fun, isn’t it? Let’s break down what to expect this year!

Shadowed Silhouette Miniature Teasers

Our Guess: A new Soulblight Gravelords Black Knight Character/ a new kit for the Black Knights.

Who are the Black Knights?

The Black Knights of Age of Sigmar are the epitome of dark elegance and ruthless power. These ethereal riders strike fear into the hearts of their enemies, draped in shadowy armor that gleams with an unnatural sheen. Mounted on spectral steeds, their every move seems like an omen of doom. As champions of death, they serve the grim purpose of their dark patron, guiding the forces of Night with unyielding precision.

Why it Makes Sense:

There is no hero focused on these units yet, and the kit is a holdover from the Warhammer Fantasy Days. This means GW could start splitting the Age of Sigmar line to make it easier to bring into the Old World!

Part 2: Something Remarkably Out of Place

a shadowed image of a mini on a red background

Our Guess: A Thanatar….wait, there isn’t supposed to be a 30K reveal!

What is a Thanatar?

The Thanatars in Warhammer 30k are a terrifying blend of death and technology, an unstoppable force that embodies the grim future of warfare. These towering constructs, part machine, part soul, are the vengeful creations of the Mechanicum, forged in the fires of the Heresy. Built to be both the executioners and the executionees, they are the ultimate weapon for wiping out entire legions with cold, calculated efficiency.

Why it Makes Sense:

The outline of this unit is clearly a Thanatar and the missing variant in the Horus Heresy. However, GW indicated we weren’t going to get a preview for this game, so either they screwed up, or something bigger is at work here.

LVO 2025 Previews Part 3: The Eternal

A shadowed picture of a emperor's chidlren model

Our Guess: New Lucius the Eternal Model

Who is Lucius?

Lucius the Eternal is a figure of terrifying renown within the grimdark universe of Warhammer 40K, a deathless champion whose name echoes through the corridors of time and space. Once a noble warrior of the Imperium, The Emperor’s Children warrior now serves the forces of Chaos, cursed to an unending existence as a servant of the Dark Gods.

His body, twisted and preserved by the sorcerous powers of the warp, is a horrific testament to the price of immortality.

Why It Makes Sense:

The Emperor’s Children have been getting hyped for a while now, with the new Fulgrim model being shown off on Christmas day. This is probably the next part of the wider release GW will want to show off.

Part 4: Worm

a picture of a shadowded worm like creature on a green background

Our Guess: Something from the Necromunda Ash Wastes.

What are the Ash Wastes?

The Ash Wastes of Necromunda are a brutal, unforgiving expanse where only the toughest survive. A sprawling desert of scorched earth, this wasteland is a testament to the unforgiving nature of the underhive’s outskirts.

Blistering winds whip through the parched land, carrying clouds of toxic ash and debris, making it a hostile environment for any who dare traverse it. But amid the desolation, fierce gangs battle for survival and supremacy, their vehicles kicking up plumes of dust as they race across the barren landscape in search of resources and power.

Why It Makes Sense:

Necromunda is the ultimate wildcard, as their miniatures are extremely varied and hard to predict. That being said, the current setting of the Ash Wastes has included a lot of insect life, and this could be the next part of that release. Or it could be that missing spider for Age of Sigmar; who knows?

LVO 2025 Previews Part 5: The Wild

A shadowded picture of a bray shaman

My Guess: A New Bray Shaman Model for Warhammer the Old World

Who Are the Bray Shamans?

Bray Shamans are the twisted, unnatural sorcerers of the Beastmen, channeling the raw, primal power of Chaos to warp the land and its creatures. These dark mages, bound to the will of the Great Beast, draw their strength from the Realm of Chaos itself, tapping into forbidden rituals and the savage magic of the Wilds.

Cloaked in fur and bone, their horns twisted like the beasts they command, Bray Shamans are both feared and revered by their kin. They summon forth ferocious beasts, conjure storms of magic, and invoke dark blessings from the Dark Gods to aid their warbands in their eternal hunt.

factions warhammer the old world

Why It Makes Sense:

The Old World will be getting some reveals, and this lines up with one of the few armies they still need to release. After the High Elves are re-released this year, the only two armies left are the Wood Elves and the Beastmen!

2025 & a Look Back at the LVO 2024 Previews & Reveals

The Las Vegas Open (LVO) 2024 previews had a massive list of reveals for all the major games, and while we’re getting a ton of new stuff in 2025, it’s always fun to look back at what happened last year!

What We Know is Coming in 2025 (So Far)

Given last year’s reveals, we should be bracing for another exciting holiday season. Yet, with GW’s schedule shifting in 2024 to fewer release dates and more pre-recorded updates, the landscape feels unpredictable.

A whopping 17 codex releases for Warhammer 40,000 are expected by the end of 2025, and many of the models teased earlier this year—like the Death Korps of Krieg and Eldar—still haven’t materialized fully.

For Age of Sigmar, the focus seems to be leaning toward Destruction and Death factions heading into 2025. Could we see a big splash from Gloomspite Gitz, Soulblight Gravelords, or even some long-requested updates to forgotten factions?

The Old World, too, has plenty of room to surprise, but we have recently seen tons of Empire models revealed.

Latest Roadmaps & The Christmas 2024 Preview

Warhammer 40k 2025 Roadmap upcoming 40k games

If the latest 10th Edition 40k Codex Roadmap is any indication, a whopping 17 upcoming Warhammer 40k codex books will be released by early 2024-25! Best of all, we just saw plenty of Astra Militarum and Eldar. Now it’s time for some Emperor’s Children models as well!

Battletomes Roadmap: LVO 2025

New AoS Stormcast Models 11 new battletomes With the new Warhammer Age of Sigmar edition now available, it’s prime time to map out what’s next. It seems Destruction and Death will steal the spotlight early in 2025, with at least a couple of battletomes on the horizon, along with new models for the next “season” of Age of Sigmar.

Empire, High Elves, & Chaos Release Dates

Warhammer Old World Roadmap upcoming 40k games games workshop new releases World Championships of Warhammer revealsThe Empire is putting on its marching boots, the High Elves are up to their usual tricks, and Chaos? Well, it’s just being its chaotic self, making mayhem wherever it can.

The Old World is about to get a serious makeover, thanks to the new release roadmap packed with tons of Warhammer miniatures set to drop in the coming months.

The Unpredictable Element

One thing’s for certain: GW knows how to keep fans guessing. After canceling several planned announcements earlier this year, it’s hard to say whether this LVO will bring a flood of reveals or just a few well-timed tease. The lack of clarity only heightens the anticipation.

Whether you’re hoping for new minis, updated battletomes, or just a chance to speculate wildly with friends, one thing’s clear—this Las Vegas Open is set to be another major moment in the Warhammer calendar.
