By Juan Lopez | January 11th, 2018 | Categories: Age of Sigmar, Nurgle, Warhammer 40k, Warhammer 40k Rumors

nurgle sorcererNurgle’s Cycle of Corruption is back for Age of Sigmar, are you ready? Come take a look at the new mechanic for the Maggotkin, Horticulous Slimux’s 40k datasheet, and more!

First off on the 40k front, the Chaos Daemons codex will be out this weekend and today we’re getting a look at the datasheet for Horticulous Slimux courtesy of Scanner.

Horticulous Slimux Datasheet

You can only have one Horticulous Slimux in your army, he is going to cost you 165 points to field, and his rules actually look really nice if you are planning on running beasts en masse. He has a 5″ Move, WS/BS 2+, Strength 5, Toughness 6, 9 Wounds, Leadership 8, and has a 4+ Save. Horticulous Slimux has a lopping shears attack that is Strength +1, AP -3, does D3 damage, and you can re-roll failed wound rolls. After he attacks Mulch gets to take a swing with his acidic maw. That attack is going to be Strength 7, AP -4, and does 3 damage. The sidekick has a better weapon than the character himself, minus the re-roll to wound.

Beast Handler is going to let friendly Beasts of Nurgle units within 6″ re-roll failed charge rolls, and friendly Beasts of Nurgle units within  12″ will be able to add 1 to all hit rolls.

AoS Blightwar NurglePloughed Slime Trail is going to punish your enemy for running away from battle. You’ll roll a D6 for each enemy that falls back within 1″ of Hortivulous Slimux, and on a 4+ that unit suffers D3 mortal wounds. That’s a 50% chance to inflict free mortal wounds on your opponent, you can’t beat that.

In Death, There is Life is used at the start of your turn. Horticulous will regain a lost wound If any friend or foe models were slain in the last turn within 7″ of him.

At the end of your Movement phase Seeds the Garden of Nurgle is going to let you place one Feculent Gnarlmaw within 3″ of Horticulous Slimux, but it must be more than 1″ from any other models.

Although Horticulous Slimux is a good model by himself you’re still going to need more Nurgle models to fight alongside him. And for that we give you a great way to save with the Blightwar box.

Here’s the breakdown on the Nurgle contents and values per Games Workshop:

  • 10x Plaguebeaers $29
  • 3x Nurglings $25
  • 3x Plague Drones $60
  • Horticulous Slimux $55

The Blightwar box bundle is going to cost you $160, the Nurgle part of the box by itself is worth $169 separately. But when you factor in the Stormcast half also it comes up to be $324, saving you $164 in all. So if you’re looking to expand your Nurgle army this is going to be a great option, and if you don’t want the Stormcast part of the box you might be able to convince a friend to split the box with you, or you can simply sell it on eBay.

AoS Maggotkin Nurgle

Battletome: Maggotkin of Nurgle also comes with the Blightwar box, and on page 59 we’re getting a look at a very interesting new Allegiance Ability for Nurgle in Age of Sigmar.

Knowing how the Cycle of Corruption works is good to know even if you don’t play Nurgle.

Cycle of Corruption Nurgle (1)At the beginning of the first battle round the Nurgle player rolls a dice to determine where they start on the Cycle of Corruption. The cycle rotates clockwise at the beginning of every battle round, giving Nurgle players different benefits as they go around, with some nasty effects that target their opponent. Games Workshop even threw in a dial to help you keep track of where you are on the Cycle of Corruption with this awesome dial.

Cycle of Corruption Nurgle (2)

This dial is going to make it a lot easier for you and your opponent both to keep of where you are on the Cycle of Corruption. Plus, it’s also going to make your game area a lot less cluttered not having to keep a book out and open to the page the chart is on.

If you’ve been thinking about starting a Nurgle army now seems like a great time. There’s some amazing rules for both 40k and Age of Sigmar, as well as some great savings on models. We can’t wait to see what Games Workshop has in store for us next.
