4 Space Marines from the Heroes set are coming in one of the three new board games previewed by Games Workshop at NY Toy Fair 2020.
The New York Toy Fair is an annual event where game companies from all over gather under one spot to preview some of the releases that’ll be hitting stores around the holidays. The 2020 Toy Fair is finally here!
As long-time lovers of New York, Toys and Fairs of all kinds, we thought we’d pop along to the New York Toy Fair, a major event for toy sellers across the world. We brought with us some very exciting new stuff. Over the past couple of years, we’ve returned to our roots with a ton of board games aimed at new fans, alongside reinventions of classic games for veterans – and we’ve got good news for fans of both.

2019 Toy Fair’s Reveals
Thanks to a hobbyist on our Spikey Bits Hobbies Facebook Group, we have some first-hand pictures of the minis found inside Combat Arena.
Combat Arena Boardgame
Combat Arena is actually a prequel to the events at Blackstone Fortress. The setting of the game takes place in an Imperial ship where you can grab a few of your friends and duke it out between the fighters you choose. But what kind of models were found inside the game? Well, sculpts of a Crusader, a Primaris Psyker, and even a new Rogue Trader model!
Probably to most popular model to come out of Combat Arena was Daedolosus. A named Admech dude that’s popped up here and there across multiple competitive 40k lists! You can currently get this set at Barnes & Noble, sometimes on sale even.
Vinyl Funko POP 40k Models
Thanks to the same hobbyist at the event, we also saw Funko POP! Space Marines first-hand.
Funko POP! 40k Space Marines were another part of the models spotted at the Toy Fair event. These guys were the first batch of the Funko POP! 40k series while later on, we saw the release of a blank slate Marine where hobbyists could paint them up into any Chapter/Legion they liked.
2020 Toy Fair GW Reveals
Coming to a Board Game Night Near You
If you’ve loved Blitz Bowl, Combat Arena, Stormvault and the like and you’re hungry for more, or if you’re just looking for a cracking way to spend your next gaming night, we’ve got great news – even more games are on the way.
Just like the Space Marines Heroes Series I was avaialbe in the Adventures box last year from Barnes & Noble (and now Target here in the States), it looks like Series two’s Terminators are on the way as well. Plus the Stormcast half of the Dreadfane minis for Underworlds and more Chainrasps are getting a main market re-boxing as well.
Rise of the Orks is a fast-paced base defence game for 1-5 players that pits a team of Terminators against hordes of greenskins. Working alone or with your friends, you’ll fight desperate battles where luck, skill and teamwork are required to survive. This set will also give you the chance to grab some Terminators only normally available via Space Marine Heroes!
Crypt Hunters is a game of combat and exploration where you and a friend battle it out in the depths of an ancient labyrinth. One player controls a team of Stormcast Eternals, while the other acts as a kind of dungeon-keeper, building a labyrinth as they play and throwing endless waves of Nighthaunt Chainrasps against the heroes, making for thrilling asymmetrical battles where no two games are the same.
