Don’t miss the latest new Primaris and White Scars Space Marines rumors that just keep stacking up as the summer hobby season heats up after Apocalypse.
Primaris are the new kind of Space Marine that GW has been publishing from the start of 8th edition. While normal Marines are still totally viable, we haven’t heard any mention of them getting new toys as of late. It looks like GW is all about Primaris now.
With that said, check out what was previewed at Warhammer Fest as well as some of the rumors that are still standing.
Primaris Previewed & Rumors Debunked at Warhammer Fest
We heard rumors revolving around a cheap Primaris transport for a while and we thought we were looking at the tail-end of one in this rumor engine. However, it just turned out to be a Skitarii hover-tank.
Speaking of Primaris, they weren’t completely shorted…
Primaris ended up getting a new vehicle called the Repulsor Executioner. It’s got heavier-hitting weapons than the Repulsor we have right now which is nice. But some hobbyists are still holding out for a Rhino-equivalent Primaris troop-mover (more on that in a second).
Last but not least, the Iron Hands are getting a Primaris Iron Father. Since his announcement, there have been some rumors circling the web of even more Primaris characters coming to the Chapters too.
Now let’s get into the rumors that are still standing even after Warhammer Fest:
More Primaris Characters Coming
Primaris characters are nothing new. We’ve had access to Primaris Captains and nine-hundred different Primaris Lieutenants over the past year or so that could be brought with any list. The kicker here is that these rumors talk about Chapter-exclusive characters.
According to BoLS:
- We could be seeing the Chapter’s named characters follow through with what Marneus Calgar did. I.e, Captain Lysander for the Imperial Fists, High Marshal Helbrecht for the Black Templars, Kayvaan Shrike for the Raven Guard, etc.
- We should also be seeing brand new Chapter-exclusive Primaris characters hit the table that are new to the lore.
The Iron Father and Marneus Calgar might have just been the first of many…
Space Marines Could Be Getting Chapter Tactics to Vehicles
Via Ishagu from Bolter & Chainsword:
Looks like Astartes vehicles will be getting chapter tactics. Little hints here and there from people in the know.
Ishagu has been a long-time rumor-speaker which could add some credibility to whatever he says. And let’s face it. We’d all like to see Chapter Tactics hit the vehicles. Space Marines are the only faction who’s Chapter Tactics don’t apply to their vehicles. GW probably put this in place at the start of 8th edition as a safety mechanism to make sure they weren’t too strong for other factions to handle. However, now that Space Marines are one of the “bottom of the barrel” factions in 8th, GW could be pulling the restraints back some.
White Scars Chapter Next in Line for Codex
According to an industry insider that gave us the info for one of our previous posts, the White Scars are the next Chapter to get a Codex. Some of you might have heard that it was the Imperial Fists, but there’s been no such mention of their name (sorry).
- White Scars To Get Chapter Book
- Arrival Late Summer Early Fall
- Combined Release With New Primaris Models
While Imperial Fists is a good guess (they’ve been popping up in Battleforce Box Sets/artwork for Kill Team), the White Scars are looking to be making their full debut. We don’t know any details when the Codex will drop exactly and we all have to keep in mind that these are all STILL RUMORS.
Rumor Engines That Smell Like Primaris
Looking at this rumor engine, this looks to be like the business end of a Flamer. However, something about this model just points towards Primaris design. We know it’s way too clean to be anything the Orks would use and has a “size” that looks like it may not even be shoulder-fired. Could this be a turret option that goes to a light Primaris vehicle?
Lastly, we’ve got blips on the radar. Once again, the curved features and crisp controls look like something that the Primaris would have no problem using. We could see this being on the dashboard of some kind of land-speeder that’s been retrofitted accommodate Primaris-sized bodies.
If the Primaris are in the market for getting a fast hover-speeder model, we feel like they would appear around the time of the White Scars codex (which are still rumors). They like to go fast and GW could lump in a new fast Primaris vehicle or two with the new book. Hopefully one of the vehicles will finally be a cheap, bare-bones hover Rhino that can get Intercessors and Aggressors up the board without having to throw loads of points at it.
New Primaris Models: Vehicles, Infantry & More SPOTTED?
The video is short and all of the new models are bunched up in the right-hand corner of the screen but like we said before, it’s not easy to tell that these are all new models. Going from left to right, there is a handful of new Infantry units that look to have some kind of banner and robe on the front character. This could be some kind of new Primaris Librarian but it’s not been confirmed.
Primaris Hover-Whirlwind?
Next, there looks to be an obvious Rhino chassis converted to some kind of hover platform. You can tell it’s a hover tank because it has the Repulsor grav-plates underneath as well as a base it’s sitting on top of. If you look on the sides, you can also see some sponsons that looks to be maybe loaded with missiles. Maybe this is a new Primaris version of the Whirlwind.
New Eliminator Kits?
Next, the guy in the video pointed at the three Marines all the way to the right calling them Snipers. The only squad of Primaris Marines we know of that roll in a group of three are the Eliminators. This might be a first-hand look at their new multi-weapon kit we’ve been expecting after the Las-fusils weapon option was previewed in 40k Apocalypse.
A Light Redemptor?
Next, there’s an obvious Redemptor Dreadnought variant that looks to have some kind of roll cage on the front where the Marine is plugged in. Even though the image is blurred out, we can make out some minor details that look like it’ll be a skinnier (probably lighter/faster) version of the Redemptor.
And lastly, the final frame of the video shows someone pointing to a new model which we’re guessing is a Reiver-ish Lieutenant popping a smoke grenade. He’s got a combat blade out and has the classic half-face mask that most Reivers wear.
Note what looks to be an open smoke grenade as well in his hands. Is that the missing Rumor Engine bit we have been trying to place since last September?
September 11, 2018 Smoke Detected:
It’s also important to note that in between the guy’s hands, the backpacks on the models look eerily similar to the infiltrators that came out of Shadowspear. overall, there’s a lot on the way to Primaris and our guess is that it’ll be a large continuation in weapon loadouts from the Shadowspear release.
Although alot of these are all rumors, we can still hold onto the previews that have been confirmed from Warhammer Fest, and the latest video. They should hold us over until these rumors get debunked or proven.
Let us know what you think about Primaris right now in 8th edition in the comments of our Facebook Hobby Group.
