Looking at the Battle For Los Angeles GT, this event raked in nearly 50 players! Thanks for Best Coast Pairings, we’re able to look back in time and check out the unique lists/scores.
Now let’s get into the top three lists that beat down all the others!
3rd Place: Chaos Marines- Don Hooson
What this list lacked in CP and model count, it made up for with armor and badassery. With three detachments being a Vanguard, Supreme Command, and Spearhead, this list brought all the armored walkers and flyers. There’s nothing like a good Dreadnought list!
With a whopping six total Forge World Dreadnoughts making up most of the firepower, they were supported with free Hellblades. The Helstorm cannons are basically like souped-up autocannons that can squeeze out an additional mortal wound here and there. A couple of Venomcrawlers were thrown into the mix and were all lead by some Lord Discordants on their mounts that have an absurd amount of damage output alone.
This list really capitalized on firepower from afar. The Lord Discordants and Venomcrawlers really ran interference for anything trying to get too close. All in all, great job!
2nd Place: Aeldari- Raymond Ahumada
Keeping the soup dream alive, this Eldar player brought along Craftworlds, Ynnari, and Drukhari.
Looking at this list, it definitely had some psychic phase shenanigans thanks to Yvraine and handful of Spirit Seers. But the real power from this list came from the Wave Serpent spam, Guardian squads, Dark Reapers, and Guardians. Really, this list had a ton of high-value targets that needed to go, but the enemy players were only able to choose one or two. There is really no easy way to take down this list. While Eldar may be T3, they are able to field tons of bodies with exceptional firepower. Plus, if you try to thumb through your stratagems for an answer, they could always just Agents of Vect it and shut everything down. Great list!
1st Place: Imperial Soup- Geoff Robinson
Looking at this Custodes list, they are the real Emperor’s finest. Plus they had a little help from the Ad Mech, which never hurts.
The true force of the Custodes is actually really small, with Valdor leading a Vexilla, a Pallas Grav-Attack, two Caladiuses, and a Telemon, there’s a ton of firepower packed into just a handful of models. Of course, following the competitive 40k meta, it’s hard to get anywhere without some CP. A Battalion detachment of Ad Mech was brought along for the extra stratagem fuel as well as acting as screen for the classic Castellan Knight.
Finally, the almost-mandatory stratagem for any Imperium player, Operative Requisition Sanctioned, let Geoff bring along any kind of Assassin that was needed to counter his opponent in-game. With two main targets being the Castellan and the Custodes attack force, the opponents were forced to make a hasty decision on what to kill first. Great list and congratulations coming in 1st place!
