No one suspected Games Workshop to reveal the new 40k Codex Imperial Agents rules, character models, and three new battleforces all at once.
Now you can build your own Inquisitorial force or add specialist aid to your existing army with the new Warhammer 40k Codex Imperial Agents!
Warhammer 40k Imperial Agents Codex Rules, Models & Battleforces:
While billions of Guardsmen and Space Marines fight on the front lines, a powerful and mysterious presence safeguards the Imperium from within. The Inquisition operates in the shadows, wielding the authority to destroy entire planets in the Emperor’s name. These Inquisitors rarely take to the field personally but can mobilize whole armies when necessary.
Codex: Imperial Agents lifts the veil on the mysterious Inquisition, offering players the chance to either enhance their existing armies with specialist Inquisitorial units or command a formidable force of their own. From Deathwatch Kill Teams to Grey Knights Terminators, this codex is packed with new rules, units, and detachments.
The sneak peek hinted at some fresh new models on the horizon, plus three new battleforces to give your forces a serious boost all at once.
Codex Imperial Agents Rules: Specialist Aid or Full Inquisitorial Force
Codex: Imperial Agents can be used to add specialist Inquisitorial units to your existing army or to build a dedicated Inquisitorial force from scratch. Whether you’re adding a touch of mystery to your force or assembling a full-blown Inquisition army, this codex has you covered.
Assigned Agents and Expanded Rosters in the Imperial Agents Codex
Veterans will recognize the Assigned Agents rule, allowing certain units from this book to be integrated into other IMPERIUM armies. The roster has been expanded to include more options for Ordo Xenos, Malleus, and Hereticus forces, with Deathwatch Kill Teams joining the RETINUE units.
Deathwatch and More
The new codex also features Watch Masters, Corvus Blackstar, and the return of Watch Captain Artemis. This means you can include a full Deathwatch contingent in any IMPERIUM army, complete with leaders, squads, and transports. Those with full Deathwatch armies can seamlessly integrate these units into their Space Marine forces, blending the robust Detachments of Codex: Space Marines with the specialized units from Codex: Imperial Agents.
It looks like the rumors were true, and Deathwatch appears to have been absorbed in the new book.
New Imperial Agents Codex Units & Detachments Rules
Grey Knights Terminators and Battle Sister squads are now part of the REQUISITIONED category. Priests and Navigators join the fray to provide guidance in both spiritual and literal senses. For those wanting a complete Imperial Agents army, the codex offers four new Detachments with their own rules, Stratagems, and Enhancements. Three Detachments focus on the major Inquisitorial Ordos, while the fourth showcases forces with Imperial Navy backing.
The Imperialis Fleet Detachment
This Detachment brings a variety of support options to the table, allowing for strategic redeployment, close-quarters combat, and targeted objectives. Assassins, Rogue Traders, and Inquisitors can join forces, while Navy Breachers and Arbites enforcers secure critical objectives.
New Imperial Agents Miniatures:
Inquisitor Lord Torquemada Coteaz Model
Inquisitors are versatile leaders, now able to grant a 6+ invulnerable save to their unit along with the Command point-regenerating Power of the Rosette. Fans of the lore will be excited to see Inquisitor Lord Torquemada Coteaz back in action. Known for his vast network of agents and massive daemonhammer, Coteaz dons a suit of gleaming power armor to lead on the battlefield.
Poor Coteaz has been getting panned on social media after his reveal, but there is precedent for Games Workshop changing the design of a miniature after it was previewed. Uriel Ventris from 2021 also drew a ton of criticism after his preview, and Games Workshop quietly released the miniature with a redesigned head sculpt.
Blackstone Fortress Ministorum Priest
While this wasn’t revealed in the post, it is in the teaser video! This was originally released in the Blackstone Fortress box, and it will be nice to score the mini once again!
He has nearly the same pose as the old Arch Confessor Kyrinov model (from the late 90s), but it looks like he’s gained some weight over the years (who hasn’t?). They probably just took inspiration for this model from that, but it is interesting to see the inspiration.
New Battleforces Boxes For the Imperial Agents Codex
Three new Battleforce boxes are designed to help players start with thematic Detachments for Ordo Xenos, Ordo Malleus, and Ordo Hereticus. Coteaz is first available in the Ordo Malleus box, making it a perfect starting point for new players.
