Don’t miss the new Adeptus Mechanicus Kataphron Breachers & Destroyers 40k rules for the 9th Edition Ad Mech codex.
We knew that Adeptus Mechanicus were getting their time in the sun very soon and with the datasheets beginning to get spotted, it’s coming up fast! Let’s check out the datasheet and compare it to the current one.
We have also seen the Electro Priests, Walkers, Serberys, Dunecrawlers, Cawl, Pteraxii, and Archaeopters previously if you want to check those out.
New Kataphron Ad Mech 40k Rules
There was an IKEA-style sheet of rules spotted on Reddit, once again so let’s compare it to the old sheet and see what’s changed.
Old rules
New Rules
New Bonuses (Destroyer):
- Cognis flamer now Assault D6+2 (was Assault D6)
- Plasma Culverin no overcharge profile
- +1 Armor Save (was 4+, now 3+)
- +1 Attack (was 2, now 3)
New Bonuses (Breacher):
- Heavy Arc Rifle flat 2 damage (was d3)
- Torsion Cannon Double range and now D3+3 damage (was 24″, now 48″ range and was D6 damage)
- Arc Claw now -3 AP (was -1)
- Hydraulic Claw now -2 AP and flat 3 damage (was -1 AP and D3 damage)
- +1 Armor Save (was 3+, now 2+)
What we don’t know:
- Unique Weapon Rules?
- Move and fire heavy weapons?
- Invulnerable save?
Overall, the Kataphron seems to be getting strictly better with buffs across the board and not a single nerf insight. They technically don’t have an overcharge profile for the Plasma, but that’s hardly anything considering the rest of the updates. The Breacher is especially improved now.
Look for the Adeptus Mechanicus codex to hit store shelves soon. As it’s probably the next major codex release for 40k and assumed to be going on pre-order in the next few weeks.
What rules changes do you want to see from the new Ad Mech? Are you happy with the Kataphron changes?
