40k Kill Team: Octarius Pricing CONFIRMED!

new-releases-kill-team-octariusNew Death Korps of Krieg, Orks, and the Kill Team: Octarius box is hitting the shelves soon – check out the pricing!

Get those hobby dollars ready if you want any of this stuff.

Kill Team: Octarius & Black Library Pricing CONFIRMED!

It looks like this will be a two-week pre-order window, similar to how Dominion and Indomitus were for the launches of those game lines as well. Plus, GW has made a promise that everyone who pre-orders this will get it. Meaning no fighting with scalpers or anyone else.

You might get it in a few months if you are late for the order, but you will get it. Lastly, this is more than we thought it would be, just a heads up before you see the price!

Latest on Warhammer 40k Kill Team: Octarius Starter Box

As it turns out Octarius is not the actual starter box for Kill Team, it was a limited edition box set available to hobbyists and contains a similar amount of figures and terrain inside with a retail price of $200.

40k Kill Team Starter

The actual Kill Team starter set was revealed by Games Workshop at Gen Con and features the same Ork Kommandos and Death Korps of Kreig Veterans from Octarius with a little less terrain. We would expect this to have a $150 price tag based on the previous starter set versions of Warhammer 40k Indomitus and Age of Sigmar Dominion that followed the limited edition boxes just like Octarius.

40k Kill Team Starter 2

As we said, if you’re getting into the game, this will probably be the easiest and cheapest way to do it, if you missed out on Octarius that is. Now, let’s get to the exciting part, the Orks and DKoK are getting separate boxes on their own!

40k Kill Team Starter 4

While we don’t have an exact date, they usually don’t reveal the boxes more than a month or so out. It is interesting they are putting these in Kill Team-specific boxes, but we could always see new 40k branded boxes for them at a later date.

New Kill Team Box Set $199

kill team octarius whats in the box

Excited to get your hands on Kill Team: Octarius? You won’t have to wait long – pre-orders will be available in August, and you’ll want to keep an eye out as the boxed set is available only while stocks last (don’t worry if you miss it though, as all of the models will be available on their own shortly after). In the meantime, stay tuned to Warhammer Community for more in-depth looks at Kill Team: Octarius as we get closer to pre-order day.

Look to order this next month, and perhaps more conveniently, the models will be out “shortly” after as well. Pretty cool if hobbyists don’t have to worry about missing out on this box, as the models inside will be out shortly after.

With a little luck, these will be the first of a whole line of new DKoK models ported over from Forge World, or perhaps even fresh new designs from the GW studio!

Values & Pricing For 40k Kill Team: Octarius Starter Box

Kill Team Octarius layout

In the Octarius Kill Team box you get more minis in this (but no characters), waaaaay better terrain, the new books, and all the accessories you need to play. So just looking at that, right away the difference in price from Pariah Nexus is understandable, but let’s break down everything inside and see.

Miniatures

  • 10DKoK Troops $50-60 (potentially broken into two sets for later release, with two regular troops sprues at $45, maybe with the full command staff for $55)
  • 10 Orks $50-60 (based on similar sized new units)

Terrain

This is where it gets a little weird because you basically get half of the Ork Mekboy Shop (rubble piles and barricades) plus what looks to be about a Battlezone’s worth of dedicated unreleased Ork terrain.

Honestly, we expect the terrain here will end up being worth way more if/when GW releases them as their respective kits when the Ork release(s) finally hit later this year.

Accessories

But wait there is more! Both the Core Rulebook as well as the Templates and accessories will all have separate products at launch. So hobbyists that just want those to play their existing armies can buy the rulebook and compendium, and applicable accessories while hobbyists getting this box would in theory just need the Compendium to be up and running with any new and current Kill Teams!

  • Kill Team Rulebook $50
  • Tac Ops Cards $18 (may be different than the separate product- 54 in the box versus 51 in Tac Ops Pack?)
  • Kill Zone Essentials $35

Total MSRP $378 on the low side

Total Value (ESTIMATED) $178

That puts this as having about an extra $178 minimum extra in value which is considerably more value than the Pariah Nexus box. Honestly, that valuation realistically depends on the retail price of the new DKoK and Orks, which could conceivably release with up to a $60 price tag in the near future.

Kill Team: Core Book $50 & Compendium $50

Kill Team Compendium and core book

The Kill Team: Core Book is also available separately in a 144-page package containing all the necessary rules and missions to enjoy Kill Team in three forms – open play, matched play, and narrative play.

Both the new Core rule book and the KT compendium will be available for pre-order, with the Compendium containing the actual unit rules for existing teams.  Containing 55 fireteams, 187 types of operatives, new stratagems, ploys, and equipment, the Compendium is probably a must-have outside the box itself.

Or for hobbyists not getting the new box, it looks like these are the two books you’ll want to get to update your games of Kill Team to the new edition!

Kill Team: Tac Ops Cards $18

Kill Team Tac Ops Cards

Also available both separately to the main Kill Team: Octarius box are these handy Kill Team: Tac Ops Cards. You get two identical decks of 27 cards, one for each player, which cover all 24 of the secondary objectives listed in the Core Book, as well as three cards you can use to hide your choices.

Usually, a great pick-up for helping in-game, and always super resellable down the road if you end up never using them as well!

Kill Team: Killzone Essentials $35

The Kill Team: Killzone Essentials package meanwhile comes with all the accessories you need – alongside the Core Book and the Compendium – to get to grips with this awesome new system and start playing hard-fought skirmish games on the battlefields of the 41st Millennium. It comes with three all-important combat gauges, 84 tokens, and six barricades.

From the looks of this, you get one inside the starter box, so this is probably more of a must-have for folks not planning on picking up the new box, and just using the teams they have currently!

Just like the cards, products such as these are super resellable down the road if you never end up using them as well!
