By Travis Pasch | September 27th, 2022 | Categories: Magic The Gathering, Warhammer 40k, Warhammer 40k Rumors

Warhammer-magic-the-gathering-collector-foils-ruinedAccording to Reddit the Warhammer 40k Magic Commander Collector Foil Cards come “ruined,” which may not be true…

Some content creators have already received the all foil collector decks for the new Warhammer 40k Magic the Gathering Cards and made unboxing videos.

While the new cards look great, and there are even token cards no one had seen yet, commenters on Reddit are up in arms that the new foils are “ruined” right out of the boxes.

Reddit Thinks Warhammer 40k Magic Commander Collector Foil Cards Come Ruined

Let’s get right into it. This Reddit thread (with nearly 500 comments when we wrote this post) was quite upset about the new Warhammer 40k Magic the Gathering commander collector foil cards being “runied”.

However, as you’ll see below, from the video by Geek Culture Gaming, that may not be 100% accurate…

So there is a bit of backstory here; as you can see in the video below, the cards do come slightly curved out of the box.  There have also been foil card production issues in the past with Magic cards, and some folks are already on edge with the price points of these decks.

Luckily we have some info from YouTube about how they actually feel and look.

If you dig deep in the comments, according to Geek Culture Gaming, they flatten right out after putting them in sleeves!

Warhammer 40k Commander CardsThis is good news as these new Warhammer 40k Magic commander collector foil cards are quite expensive, and honestly, you should be putting your cards in sleeves anyway.

Plus, it appears through the manufacturing process all of these cards do come slightly curved, so don’t panic, throw them in some sleeves, and you’ll be good to go!

magic foil collector warhammer 40k cardsYou can check out the whole video above for all their insight, but here is a good look at how curved the cards are straight out of the box.

However, they weren’t the only ones to review the box either. Askrias also unboxed some of the foil cards and showed off some tokens we hadn’t seen as well as the thickness of the in-play Abaddon commander card itself!

You can check out the video above for the whole unboxing, but we have some screenshots as well.

Commander 40k cardsIt comes with these cutouts right as you open the box. However, according to the video, the quality of the actual box packaging itself seems a little off.

Commander 40k cards 2Next up, you get Abaddon as your commander and a few more tokens on the side. Some people in the comments wished for them to be metal, but it doesn’t look like we’ll be getting them.

Commander 40k cards 4Lastly, you can see just how thick the in-play Abaddon Commander card really is. So while this card is thicker than the other cards in the deck, it also seems to have the same slight curve from manufacturing.  Regardless, it doesn’t look cheap, and that should straighten in a sleeve as well.

Screenshot_1100Honestly, the only big gripe about these cards from these two videos seems to be the fact that the new tokens did not have the foil process on each side, unfortunately.

From here, the foils themselves look really good overall!
