Is The Leagues of Votann Christmas Box Worth It?
In terms of raw value, this has it! With over $110 in value, you’re basically getting two of the units inside for free, so if you need everything in the box, this is a great way to get a force on the board quickly.
However, it is a Beserk heavy force. GW is doing themed boxes this year, so if you want to play with a bunch of the Cthonian stuff, this is a buy all day long. If you’re looking for more of their regular units, you’ll want to pass on this one.
Also, keep in mind they do have a detachment in the new codex for Beserks, and this is a great start. Plus, a themed box is sometimes more fun for a veteran player, as you don’t just get a bunch more Warriors to probably sit on the shelf.
Regardless, let’s just hope it doesn’t get allocated like some recent battleforces and plenty of people get to pick it up.
How Many Points Is This?
Based on the current edition of 40k, we would guess the Leagues of Votann battleforce points are somewhere around 550 points. But, as you know, the tides of the Grimdark universe are ever-shifting, and with the latest points updates, that number could quickly fluctuate.
What to Buy Next?
You have a lot of melee already, and to balance things out, grab a Sagitaur or two for mobility and objective play, since your Beserks can’t claim ground if they’re too busy smashing skulls. A Hekaton Land Fortress is still a solid pick for heavy firepower and durability, pairing perfectly with your Thunderkyn and Iron-master.
And if you want to make your army hum like an ancient Votann core, toss in a Kahl or Grimnyr for those key buffs and stratagem synergies. With those additions, you’ll have a well-rounded force that can brawl, shoot, and still score, the true Kin trifecta.

The Cthonian Prospect box hits all the right notes for Votann fans: tough, efficient, and full of character. It’s a perfect pickup if you want to lean into the Beserk-heavy playstyle without wasting a single model.
Just don’t wait too long to grab one; these boxes are likely to vanish faster than a Kin mining convoy with good intel.
