Check out what may be the first multipart miniatures releases for Priamris Space Marines and the Necron factions in 9th Edition 40k
Indomitus brought all-new models to Space Marines and Necrons. Just days after that Box Set released, GW hit us with previews of 3 new starter sets with models from Indomitus inside.
They starters are designed to get new players into the hobby as well as supplement your collection with more new stuff for less. But looking at the models inside those sets, we’re beginning to have a rough idea of what we can see as a multi-part kit release next.
GW Drops New Starter Sets Beyond Indomitus
Three new starter sets on the way to 9th Edition. They all roughly have the same configuration but are tiered as “Recruit, Elite, and Command editions” giving more content as you go up. Oddly enough, we saw a rumor before Indomitus even dropped as game stores were told to paint the exact amount and type of models that came in these sets (the rumor was true).
RUMORS: First Miniatures Releases For 9th Edition 40k
These Bladeguard Vets were spotted earlier sparking controversy on if a new multipart kit coming just around the corner. Well, it looks like it was all correct. GW came out saying that these guys would be available with different poses very soon.
You may have noticed that none of the new starter sets include the mighty Bladeguard Veterans from the Indomitus boxed set. Well, there’s a reason for that – have you seen these guys?
These glorious warriors will soon be available in a separate, multipart kit all their own. If you’re chomping at the bit to add a unit or two into your army, you won’t have long to wait!
Notice that the Bladeguards aren’t a part of the new, smaller starters we just talked about. Because the Bikers, Assault Marines, the Primaris Captain, Warriors, Skorpekh Destroyers, etc. are getting a second dose of love in the starter sets, GW may be pushing the queue of kits not in the starter forward.
That could put the Bladeguard Vets, Eradicators, the Canoptek Reanimator, Skorpekh Lord, etc. as potential multipart kit releases first.
A Note On Warriors
The Warriors have a unique aspect that we’ve never seen really seen from GW inside a Starter Box before. The Warriors come with both weapon kits and have multiple head options. This is completely different from the normal mono-pose, mono-wargear options we’re used to seeing.

With that said, it could be quite a long while before the Warriors get their own kit. Even though they are a staple Necron unit, they’re already being made available across four starter sets and come with all their wargear options.
When Could We see Multipart Kits Drop?
The Necron and Space Marine codexes are the first books to hit 9th Edition but we’ve still got time before we see them on the shelves. They are releasing sometime in October to be exact. On that note, that doesn’t mean that we have to wait until the codex drops to see multipart kits released.
Since the datasheets found inside Indomitus are largely circulating now, we could very well begin to see individual kits drop.
Using the release pattern from Dark Imperium (8th Edition’s Starter Box) we could be seeing multipart kits emerge in a matter of weeks.
This has been a lot to cover but there’s definitely a pattern to watch here. We’ll know for sure how accurate it is in the coming weeks/months but until then keep your eyes peeled.
