The 7 New Age of Sigmar Christmas 2022 AoS Battleforces

age-of-sigmar-battleforces-2022More 2022 Christmas AoS Battleforces than ever before are here, as GW revealed seven new boxes instead of the normal four!

Games Workshop recently dropped all sorts of teasers about the upcoming 2022 Christmas releases, including something spicy about battleforces!

Obviously, there were some rumors disproven about what armies will actually be included for Battleforces in 2022, but there’s plenty to see now for what is coming this year for Christmas!

We’re reaching the end of a massive year for Warhammer, from the shock return of the Leagues of Votann to the explosive growth of the Gnarlwood in Ghur. It’s almost time to wrap it up with another cracking Christmas, and there’ll be no half measures – more festivities, more Battleforces, and more Warhammer than ever.

More… BATTLEFORCES?!!

Games Workshop Reveals Seven New 2022 Christmas AoS Battleforces

Thanks to Warhammer Community we know there are seven new Battleforces for Age of Sigmar! This is huge because starting in 2016, there were only eight battleforces altogether for both AoS and Warhammer 40k total!

Now, Age of Sigmar is getting seven just for that game alone!

Looking at this list, a few boxes of the same army (especially for 40k) come out almost every year, like Space Marines and Nids. It seems that lately, AoS has newer factions (but this year it looks like some repeats), whereas Warhammer 40k is a mix of both newer and older (like Guard in 2020).

Obviously, some repeat SM (some flavor of Marine), Chaos (of sorts), and Xenos. However, this year there somehow isn’t a single Xenos faction included…

Also, it’s interesting to note that Necrons in 2020 and Orks in 2021 were actually probably the newest released factions to grab a box (even though it had been months since their new codex dropped at that point).

aos-Christmas-battleforces-age-of-sigmar-2021For Age of Sigmar, there are new factions up for grabs this year, as Nighthaunt and Sylvaneth are actually fairly new for 2022. While it feels like 40k may use these boxes primarily to clear out older stock, AoS seems to be using these releases to push newer books in most cases.

Remember previously, there are generally only four boxes for AoS, so getting seven is really awesome even though it’s still one less than 40k!
