Here’s the savings and value breakdown for the Wrath of the Soul Forge King box set for Warhammer 40k in our pricing breakdown!
This is definitely a little different from the normal box sets, as it isn’t really a Combat Patrol or a Battleforce box set. It seems like Games Workshop went back to the bundle box format with two new characters surrounded by other current kits from their respective lines.
Either way, it should hopefully have some decent value inside and will let you get the new models before they can be scored separately. While this will get you a bunch of new minis, the question is, what kind of value is inside the new Soul Forge King box set?
If you missed it, we look at the latest pricing and values of the new Warhammer 40k box sets in separate posts below:

Wrath of the Soul Forge King Box Set: Savings & Value Breakdown
Please note, as of this writing, we don’t know the exact prices of Vashtorr or Azrael, but we should be close!
Dark Angels models:
- Azrael $50 estimated (50mm base size, compare to Helbrecht)
- 10 Intercessors $60
- 5 Deathwing Terminators $60
Total Dark Angels MSRP: $170
Chaos Models:
- Vashtorr: $80 estimated (80mm base? compare to the new Daemon Prince)
- Cultists: $50
- Venom Crawler and Obliterators: $75 (Warpforged Box Set)
Total Chaos MSRP: $205
Total Boxset MSRP: $375
Total Savings Versus $210 Box Price: $165 (estimated)
For $210, and you split it with someone, you would actually have pretty decent value. However, since we don’t know the exact prices of the models inside, it could be a little more or less depending on how GW prices them out.
Is the Wrath of the Soul Forge King Worth It?
At $210, it has pretty good value. However, the models inside are a little “random,” so to speak. For Chaos especially, other than Vashtorr, it’s not really the best collection of models, but if you need them for your army, it will have value.
At that price, and if you split it, you’ll save about $100 for the chaos side of things. For the Dark Angels, the units are pretty useful, and if you pay $105 (splitting with someone), you get about $65 in value, which is pretty decent.
Again though, you will get access to these two new models before they are released separately. So, if you really want them, this will be your only option for a month or so.
