Here’s your guide to all the Warhammer 40k Combat Patrol box values and pricing in our savings breakdown, updated with the latest prices!
Warhammer 40k Combat Patrol boxes are a great way to get started in the hobby. Each box contains a small, playable army at a discounted price, which can form the core of a larger army or be used in a custom quickplay game mode.
These boxes are a great option for new and veteran players who want to try out a new force or play a quick game.
Warhammer 40k Combat Patrols In 10th Edition
It’s worth noting that every Warhammer 40k faction has a combat patrol box available. While the official price is $160 (£95) on the Games Workshop webstore, your local gaming store may offer them at a discounted price. Moreover, in Warhammer 40k 10th edition, Games Workshop has introduced a new, quick-play game mode specifically for these boxes.
Games of Warhammer 40k Combat Patrol (Seperate Game Mode)
Games Workshop has introduced a new game mode called Combat Patrol with the release of Warhammer 40k 10th edition. This game mode is designed to be simpler and quicker to play compared to a full game of Warhammer 40k. It is ideal for new players who want to get started or for those who want to play a full game during their lunch break.
Combat Patrol Balance
To ensure fair play, each Combat Patrol is balanced against all the others. This may seem challenging when looking at some of the more elite unit box sets, like Space Marines or Custodes. However, Games Workshop has used two methods to balance the boxes against one another:
Firstly, the models in each box set have a particular loadout that players are supposed to equip their models with. Secondly, the Combat Patrol versions of each faction’s datasheet army rules are different from their main Index. These datasheets are simpler, and armies have access to different Stratagems and enhancements.
Updated Warhammer 40k Combat Patrol boxes Pricing & Values
Here is the full line of Warhammer 40k Combat Patrol boxes, along with the units that have increased in value since 2023. Plus, in our chart, you can see how all the Combat Patrol boxes compare to one another value-wise!
So we’ve seen quite a few of these Combat Patrol box sets with value since Games Workshop started replacing their Start Collecting box sets with this version at the current price point of $160. Based on the pricing, Games Workshop seems to try to give about $50-$60 of value in their Combat Patrol boxes. However, as shown below, some have more than that, and some have less.

Now moving to more exclusively Daemon models, this new combat patrol is a great start for any fans of Khorne’s Daemonic forces. However, this one may not be for you if you’re not collecting skulls in your Daemon army.

Combat Patrol: Tyranids (New)

Start your new army with Combat Patrol: Tyranids, a curated collection of units that give you a solid foundation for larger, greater swarms. They’re also an excellent choice for pick-up games of Combat Patrol, leveraging the speed and skill of a Winged Tyranid Prime to pick off critical enemy units while 20 Termagants, five Barbgaunts, three Von Ryan’s Leapers, and a massive Psychophage advance across the field. You also get two Ripper Swarms. Because you can never have too many Ripper Swarms.
*Unfortunately, the value of this combat patrol is really just based on a little less than half the contents of the Leviathan Starter Set, minus the Screamer Killer and the Neurotyrant. Overall, unless you need these models because you missed out on that box release, it’s not worth buying this box as the value is far lower than the cost of this box on the secondary market.
This Tyranids Combat Patrol Box is a very sub-par release by Games Workshop.

Take an elite, flexible force into Combat Patrol and kickstart your Space Marines collection with this fine assemblage of powerful heroes. *Unfortunately, The value of the Space Marines combat patrol is really just based on a little less than half the contents of the Leviathan Starter Set, minus the Ballistus Dreanought, one extra squad of Infernus and the Sternguard Squad.
Overall, unless you need these models because you missed out on that box release, it’s not worth buying this box as the value is far lower than the cost of this box on the secondary market.

The Unforgiven return to the world of Combat Patrol with a revamped box for this fast and furious Warhammer 40,000 game mode. This box contains 19 miniatures, including a Captain in Gravis Armour, three Bladeguard Veterans, five Hellblasters, and 10 Intercessors. On top of that you’ll get two Dark Angels Primaris Upgrade sprues, and three transfer sheets containing 221 decals each – note that these are different from the Dark Angels Upgrades and Transfers described above.
Models | Unit Name | Value |
1 | Captain in Gravis Armour | $40 |
3 | Bladeguard Veterans | $60 |
5 | Hellblasters | $35 ($60 for 10) |
10 | Intercessors | $60 |
2 | Dark Angels Primaris Upgrade sprues | $30 (each sells for $15, but this is the old upgrade sprue) |
Dark Angels Combat Patrol
Total MSRP: | $225 | |
Savings Versus Box Price: | $65 |
Honestly, with $30 of the value being made up by the old upgrade sprues (pictured above), this really isn’t a great deal. If the box had 10 Hellblasters, it would be pretty decent. However, if you don’t want the captain and the upgrade sprues, you actually lose money.
But… if you do need everything inside, this will save you some cash and get you a decent starting force and some upgrades. The newer 10th Edition Combat Patrols have been underwhelming so far, and this is following the trend, but it at least has more value than the previous two we’ve seen.

Wield the golden sword of the Emperor in smaller-scale Warhammer 40,000 games with Combat Patrol: Adeptus Custodes, which also makes for a great start to a larger army. The patrol is led by a charging Blade Champion, who can assemble his force from five Custodian Guard and a choice between three Allarus Terminators or three Wardens – you’ll get all of the miniatures in the box, but they’re just too powerful to take the whole lot into a single game of Combat Patrol!
Models | Unit Name | Value |
1 | Blade Champion | $40 |
3 | Allarus Terminators | $60 |
5 | Custodian Guard | $60 |
5 | Vexilus Praetors | $60 |
Adeptus Custodes Combat Patrol
Total MSRP: | $220 | |
Savings Versus Box Price: | $60 |
This basically gets you one of the units for free, so if you need everything inside, this is a decent pickup. While it’s not the highest value we’ve seen in a box, it is a good starting force. It gets you a lot of the core units, and with how expensive each unit is in points, the value seems higher when compared to something like Orks!
40k Orks Combat Patrol (New 2024)
Click on these links to order yours for less from these retailers: | Amazon | Dicehead Games | Bazooka Games | Frontline Gaming | Element Games (UK) | eBay | or | Games Workshop’s Store
Known as Morgrim’s Butchas, this mob of angry Beast Snagga Orks are clearly disappointed by the dearth of big monsters and vehicles in Combat Patrol and are taking out their frustration on everyone else. You get a hulking Beastboss flanked by 20 Beast Snagga Boyz and backed up by four Squighog Boyz, making this a hard-hitting Combat Patrol with lots of big charge energy.
Models | Unit Name | Value |
1 | Beastboss | $40 |
20 | Beast Snagga Boyz | $120 ($60 for 10) |
4 | Squighog Boyz | $65 |
Orks Combat Patrol | ||
Total MSRP: | $225 | |
Savings Versus Box Price: | $65 |
Do you want a lot of Beast Snagga Boyz? If so, this is a great box for you. If you want the regular Orks, you have to pass on this one. If you really want to play this style of army, it’s pretty good value, as it gets you the Squighog Boyz for free!
The newer boxes in 10th Edition haven’t had as much value, but getting so many Boyz is always fun. Plus, this is totally different from the Orks’ last combat patrol box, so you still have options if you want to get more ‘regular Orks.’ That being said, the value between these two is $40 less, which in game terms is at least a whole character or half a squad.

A new Tau Empire Combat Patrol enters the arena of small-scale Warhammer 40,000 action with a balanced mechanised force, mounting troops in a mobile Devilfish transport while their comrades offer supporting fire. The Commander – piloting a sturdy Enforcer battlesuit – leads from the front with a powerful array of ranged weapons, while a Breacher Team closes in for a short-ranged firefight and 10 Pathfinders support their comrades from afar with pinpoint Markerlight targeting.

Of the 10th Edition Combat Patrol boxes we’ve seen so far, this is actually one of the better. The value is higher than most, and it has a good mix of units inside. It will be a decent buy to start up a new force, even though it doesn’t have a wild number of points inside.
Plus, if you do need everything inside, this will save you some cash and give you a decent starting force to boot!
Which of The 40k Combat Patrol Boxes Has the Best Pricing and Value?
If you look just at the numbers, the Sisters, Daemons, and GSC Combat Patrol boxes come out as winners based on pricing and value. But if you look at the units involved, the Drukahri really comes out as the winner, with everything in the box being useful and included in almost every Kabal list.
The Death Guard box does have a ton of value, but it comes mainly in the form of Poxwalkers, so that is hard to gauge. It is the box for you if you want a lot of Poxwalkers.
The Deathwatch and Grey Knights Combat Patrol boxes are the clear losers in terms of pricing and value. That’s because if you don’t need the characters, you basically get no real value.
Either way, whether you are a new or veteran player, these boxes are a great option to try out a new faction or play a quick game. You can easily decide which box is best for you and your budget. So, don’t wait; grab your Warhammer 40k Combat Patrol box today!
