GW’s New Year Warhammer 2026 preview show could bring Battleforces, Corsairs, a new AoS Faction rework, another 40k narrative campaign, and more!
The new year is here, and GW is already planning a preview. Everyone’s asking the same question: will Games Workshop actually bring the heat in the new year? With huge leaks already floating around and some hints from GW, we have a decent idea of what to expect, but maybe we’ll all be surprised!
Still, there are enough rumors out there to make us think GW has some giant reveals to drop on January 16th, 2026.
Let’s break down what’s likely on the table.
Warhammer New Year Preview: When It’s All Going Down
The 2026 New Year Warhammer Preview kicks off January 16th at 2:30 PM EST, which is 7:30 PM GMT, streaming worldwide from Warhammer World (not at the Palm Springs Open like we initially thought) with Adam and Eddie hosting the big reveals.
Huron is not out there raiding the galaxy solo, and now we’re getting a look at one of his ride or die crew: Garreon the Corpsemaster, the former Chief Apothecary of the Astral Claws, and the guy rumored to have stitched Huron back together after a meltagun gave him an up close Badab War souvenir.
He is only one slice of a full battle barge of new Red Corsairs on the way, and between the preview and those grainy leaked photos, we have basically already seen most of the range in one blurry form or another.
Unfortunately for Aeldari players, GW specifically mentions we’ll have to wait on the pointy-eared pirates, so we wouldn’t expect to see the Aeldari Corsairs and Yriel quite yet.
Rumors Galore For 40k
Iron Warriors upgrade sprue chatter hints GW is rebuilding Chaos warbands piece by piece, which makes Red Corsairs feel like part of a bigger plan, not a random drive-by.
On the xenos side, Aeldari Corsairs look like the smart money right now, especially with Prince Yriel getting spotlighted and talk of Vipers, flying units, psykers, and a curated box. But as we mentioned above, with them coming later, they might be bypassed in this preview.
Meanwhile, Yarrick rumors will not quit, and that recent White Dwarf bit about long-dead characters returning has people eyeballing both him and the Primarch chatter as way more plausible.
If GW really wants to snap the internet in half, a plastic Warhound Titan tease, or a Leman Russ return would absolutely do it, even if both still feel like wild-card territory.
What About Age of Sigmar?
With Maggotkin of Nurgle already out of the way, Ogor Mawtribes feel like the cleanest, most obvious next stop for Age of Sigmar, especially with that not-so-subtle gut plate tease pointing to a refresh. The roadmap is looking pretty quiet otherwise, so if the whispers about a bigger range overhaul are real, the timing lines up, and AoS needs a new headline faction that hasn’t seen a big refresh in decades.
Final Thoughts on the New Year Warhammer Preview
So yeah, January 16th is shaping up like one of those previews where you either leave with a shopping cart full of bad decisions or a fresh batch of cope and conspiracy threads. Between confirmed Red Corsairs, suspiciously loud Chaos rumblings, and an Age of Sigmar roadmap that is basically pointing at Ogors with a neon “feed me” sign, GW has plenty of room to swing big.
All that’s left is to see if they tease the safe stuff or drop a “by the way, here’s something wild” moment that detonates everyone’s group chats. Either way, we’ll cover everything that drops!
