Meta Monday 40k Army Lists, January 6, 2025

The Warhammer 40k 10th edition meta is experiencing significant changes in both army lists and tactics this Monday, and we’re here for it! First up, the Glass City GT (100 players in Toledo, OH), followed by Everwinter (80 players in Boston, MA).

With a literal new detachment every day in December and new codexes on the horizon, the 40k Meta Mondays are wild right now for every faction.

The first thing you will notice in this list is the cavalcade of vehicles. That’s because the new detachment adds a ton of what the Custodes datasheets needed: Speed! Adding 2″ to move and +1 to advance and charge rolls (they also get advance and charge and walk through walls now!) makes them blisteringly fast.

Leading off the vehicles is the Caladius Grav-Tanks, probably the best anti-tank in the game. It’s reliable here and makes a lot of sense in a projected Vehicle Heavy Meta.

Followed by the Telemon Dreads. They seem to make an appearance every edition, and now one of these guys get a 5+ FNP with the enhancement! With efficient chaff clearing and a big fist to punch with on a sturdy Telemon frame, Folger took three!

Next are three Venerable Contemptor Dreads who get back up on a 2+ the first time they die. Extremely hard to interact with unless you’re an army with combined arms to wipe them out in two separate phases.

Last, you’ll see the ever-durable and efficient Blade Champion and Wardens! Equipped with Adamantine Talisman, giving the Champ +1 Attacks, Strength, and Damage. He will slap just about anything with Custodes Karate. This list is what you expect from Custodes: a durable pile of extremely efficient and high-tier stats.

How many Special Weapons do you have? Yes. This list is Man-Spam to the max, and it has over 170 bodies!

The first thing you’ll notice in this list is the Scions that are the core of Bridgehead. Scions hit really hard with +1 to wound, which they have access to almost every time they activate in this detachment!

Following the arsenal of special weapons, there’s an army of shovels ready to dig in and pile cheap and relatively durable (5+++ from the Marshall) OC on objectives from the Death Korps of Krieg units.

If that wasn’t enough, there are tons of cheap dudes to do actions, gum up movement, and just be unreasonably annoying. Catachan are just great cheap idiots to throw away however you need, and Aquilons have built-in deep strike to make them extra hard to screen.

If you don’t have literally hundreds of shots, this army might just wash over you with a wave of bodies, so prepare accordingly!
